An AEGEE-Europe project where ambassadors travel across Europe and educate European Youth on Climate Change 👩🏽‍🏫
Winner of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize 2013 🏅 AEGEE-Europe (European Students’ Forum), with support of its partner, Interrail, launched “Europe on Track” to grasp a better future for European youth; to establish direct contact between young people and decision-makers and a bidir

ectional communication channel where not only young people’s voice will be heard, but also the European yoth can get a better understanding of the European construction. AEGEE-Europe, being the biggest interdisciplinary student association in Europe, calls out to its members and all like-minded Europeans, to engage them in the decision-making processes and encourage their contribution in constructing the Europe of tomorrow. Six young Europeans were travelling across the continent by train and in the course of one month, capture young people's vision of their future through gathering the answers to these, and further questions, documenting everything by photography, videos and interviews.

What did Europe on Track teach our ambassadors? 🌍

EoT is proof that learning doesn’t always happen in a classroom. It happens when you meet people who see the world differently. When you listen instead of assuming.
When you step outside your comfort zone. When you realise that your experiences are just one tiny piece of a much bigger picture.

These six quotes come from our ambassadors - six very different perspectives, six different takeaways, but one shared feeling: coming back home changed. 💚

Europe on Track was never just about the places our ambassadors travelled to or the events that were organised. It was about the bigger picture and the impact that was left.

Swipe through to hear what it meant to every single one of them!

Aaaaaand we're back! BUT before we fully unpack this year's journey, we thought we'd start by... unpacking our backpacks. literally. 🎒

Because, alongside the obvious essentials, our ambassadors also packed things that made absolutely no sense - things they were convinced they'd definitely need or became weirdly attached to, things they thought would solve problems that never occurred in the end.

So here's a little peek inside the europe on track ambassador suitcase lore: the most random, questionable and iconic things that travelled across europe with them.

We still can't get over how amazing the symposium on eco anxiety 🌿 in Eindhoven was, so here's a little peek in our conversation with Judith Lammers 👩‍💼, a current water board member and former climate mayor.

How do you feel about climate change? 🌎

That’s what our ambassadors asked young people around Europe.

Over the past month, the Lilac Team conducted more than 20 street interviews in various European cities, in order to understand what young people do, feel, and experience, regarding climate change.

Take a look at some of their interviews in Italy and Spain and find out how climate change affects their hometowns, what kind of sustainable practices they follow in their everyday life, and what messages they have to share with the rest of the world.

And that was it! Lilac Team arrived in their final destination: Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰

During these days, our ambassadors facilitated their workshop on “Slow Travel - Slow Living”, played some board games at the Technical University of Copenhagen (UTC), and conducted an interview with the President of European Youth Denmark.

Moreover, our ambassadors joined various outdoor activities, such as a green-kayaking, a vegan bbq, and the celebration of midsummer. 🚣🏻‍♂️🌱🔥

Azure team reporting from Nijmegen 🚲☀️

First day started with shiny red Radboud bikes, 35°C heat, backpacks, and very tired legs. We explored the city, climbed St. Steven’s Church tower 🏰, visited a cute local art shop, cooked vegan salads with the Vegan Student Association 🥗, and ended the day with our climate workshop.

Second day was all about slow travel and board games 🌍🎲 We planned eco-friendly trips, discussed why trains should be cheaper, and played Echoes of Gaia in the evening.

Next day gave us the best surprise: beach time! 🏖️ We swam, played cards, searched for pretty rocks, ate summer rolls, and fought melting ice cream 🍦Our final night ended with Okja 🎬 and lots of feelings.

But it's time to move on. Houdoe, Nijmegen 💙 See you on our next stop!

So, you really live by the river? What a jolly life! 💦

While in Heidelberg, our ambassadors conducted some street interviews with young international students and talked about eco-anxiety and everyday sustainable practices. Afterwards, they facilitated their workshops on “Slow Travel - Slow Living” and “Climate Storytelling” with the support of .🌱

Their days ended up with some city-touring, walking and talking in the old town, a visit to the medieval castle, and a picnic by the river. 🏰🇩🇪

Living La Dolce Vita, life couldn’t get much sweeter. 🇮🇹

After arriving in Bergamo, Italy, the Lilac Team visited the town hall and met with Mrs. Russo, President of the City Council, and Mrs. Ruzzini, Councillor of Ecological Transition, the Environment, and Greenery in Bergamo, in order to discuss about climate change and sustainable development. 🌱

Later on, our ambassadors facilitated their workshops in Storytelling for the Environment, and at the end of the day they had a city tour in Città Alta. 🍕
