I was digging through my photo folders from last year, back when I first picked up the Sony 90mm macro lens.

I was still figuring out the ropes of macro photography during that first month, but coming across this shot surprised me.

This Red Admiral on the Buddleia (Butterfly bush) didn't turn out too bad for an early attempt, did it? 😉📸

I'm counting down the days until I can take pictures of my most awaited flowers in August - Sunflowers.🌻🐝✨

There is a special field I found out about last year, where hundreds of them grow across the landscape, and I can’t wait to get back out there with my camera. 📸

I'm most looking forward to zooming in on busy bumblebees, dusted in pollen, because these pictures were taken in the first month when I got my Sony 90mm macro lens, and let me tell you, it wasn't easy. 😅😫

It is incredible how dramatic and magical the transformation is when a Peacock butterfly opens its wings. 😍

The underside looks like a dark, dry leaf, but inside it reveals these breathtaking violet/blue and crimson eyespots.

The eyespots are designed to trick predators into striking the wing instead of their body. Perhaps a bird took a bite out of those "false eyes", or the harsh weather, yet butterflies are true survivors. ✨

A jewel in the garden! 🪲🪞✨

In all my time spending hours out in the field with my macro lens, I have never seen, let alone photographed, one of these in person before.

This Rose Chafer (Cetonia aurata) was an absolute unit. Seeing this massive, metallic emerald beetle buried in the bright yellow petals was a bit...scary. 😅 But I got mesmerised by the way its iridescent shell caught the sunlight. ☀️💙

🪲Unlike most other beetles, Rose Chafers don't have to lift their hard outer wing cases (elytra) to fly. They have special cutouts on the sides that allow them to unfold their flying wings while keeping their armor completely closed.

The Green-veined white butterfly (Pieris napi). Yes, I can finally give it a proper name. 😅

If you've been seeing my previous photos of these white butterflies, then I struggled between the Green-veined and Large White, as both looked so similar!

I love this magical, peachy-golden, dark edit, where the butterfly is resting on the English lavender. 💜

When you look at a flower field, it’s beautiful. 💜 When you look closer through a macro lens, it becomes a completely different universe.😍

I’ve been dedicating my 2026 creative goals to mastering insect macro photography, and finding the perfect balance between a fast-moving subject and a shallow depth of field.

You've seen a couple of captures of this setup before but i like how a change in background, a slight move and depth of field can change the whole atmosphere.

I was taking pictures of wild daisies in the late evening, enjoying how the light was softening over the field....I suddenly noticed this sweet bee sitting perfectly still.🥹

She was having her beauty sleep. 😴

Because the field was packed with blooms everywhere, I couldn't move around to get a front view..

I had to freeze in one exact spot and work with the only angle I had.

In the end, the side profile frames her perfectly beneath a double-decker daisy roof. 🛏️🐝
