"Picture-cut" is a series in which slide material or photo paper, is manually cut and then reassembled into a new work.
The hand-assembled work is unique and remains the property of the artist. Ekta-cut works can only be purchased as fine artist prints.

Kurt Paulus is a creative explorer.

He literally builds his images layer by layer, using a hybrid technique he developed himself.

He combines Polaroids (8x10", 4x5", color and black and white), slides, negatives, and other originals, copying transparencies and paper over each other. In extreme cases, this requires up to 25 work steps on a modified Canon CLC 10 color copier with editing unit to create what Paulus envisioned: images with an inner harmony, but also a lasting tension. This is sometimes a matter of a single moment – one that can be quickly responded to with the color copier.
