The gaze is directed straight ahead. A person is on an escalator, moving upward. She looks up. A brightness appears there. Where is she traveling to?
​It appears like a space open at the bottom and the top, through which one passes. An order prevails, even though the panels of varying sizes break this order.
​Metaphorically, this space signifies: Even if one attempts to bring order to disorder, in the end, it remains an order. For it has not arisen by chance or with time. Whatever decision one has made in life, wherever one wishes to go – you always take yourself with you.

The gaze wanders up the stairs to a solitary figure who has deliberately sought the height to gain a better perspective. In the bright light, the figure lingers, scanning the distance with a focused gaze.

​From above, a better vantage point is revealed. This elevated position stands metaphorically for the waiting and the anticipation—the very reason the person climbed the stairs.

What this work tells me:

(1) The composition is an upside-down reflection, evoking the sense of looking through the surface of water. One figure appears fractured, while the other is elongated.

A seemingly mundane scene begins to dissolve, serving as a metaphor for the transience of fleeting moments. How much do we truly notice anymore during our daily commutes?
