Drove through desert roads for a location scout this morning. 14 pigeon towers sit in the middle of the desert, about 2 hours south of Riyadh. I arrived at 7 am, and the sun was already too harsh. I want to come back to shoot in softer light.

The conical towers, built about 100 years ago, were used to breed pigeons at scale. The towers produced fertilizer, eggs, pigeon meat and feathers. Abandoned today, they are one of the more obscure sights of Saudi’s deserts.

When visiting the pier in Göhren, the sky was alight with colors and covered in cloudy skies. Despite the scenes beauty, shooting it was challenging. I had to carefully balance the exposure for a smooth sea with the strong winds that were shaking my camera.

Abu Dhabi is a city of reflections—shiny, quiet, planned. Conservative traditions wrapped in futuristic architecture; massive public investments rising over often silent streets. And yet a buzzing cultural scene pulls artists from every corner of the world.

Just when it feels too pristine, a tilt of light hits the towers. Glass warps, shapes fold into themselves, and the skyline turns abstract. Skyscrapers reflecting skyscrapers—forms bending, vanishing, re-appearing.

Not love at first sight, but linger long enough and the details win you over. For a photographer, it’s an endless playground of symmetry, contrast, and unpredictable light—if you know where to look.

The photo shows one of the many sweeping dunes of the Wahiba Sands Desert in Oman. This sunrise threw beautiful rays of light on the dunes. To increase the dramatic effect i replaced the sky with one from a photo i had taken previously at another location.

At Skogafoss, I felt like a kid on a playground. We were incredibly lucky with the conditions—the ground was covered in intricate icy formations, golden light illuminated the waterfall, and to top it all off, a rainbow appeared. The perfect finishing touch to an already magical scene.

This photo represents yet another morning spent in rubber boots—and still ending up with wet feet. But it was all worth it as we were rewarded with incredible light. Watching the red and orange hues slowly unfold above us was nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Traveling through Iceland has undoubtedly been one of my absolute highlights of 2024.
