Yesterday, Azerbaijan began a massive bombardment of , an ethnically Armenian region claimed by Azerbaijan. Its dictator, Aliyev, has presided over a completely illegal and sadistic blockade of the region for 9 months. This has caused a humanitarian disaster and now Azerbaijan wants to "finish them off" and break all resistance.

The time to stand with our local Armenian community is NOW, at the latest. Armenia is militarily and economically less developed than Azerbaijan. It has no great-power friends. Its people have survived genocide in 1915 and the successors of the perpetrators show plenty of signs of wanting to do it again. Azerbaijan sells lots of gas to the EU and uses the money to buy lots of weapons from Israel and Turkey.

The Berlin activists of .theophanu.de .arshak & and others gathered for a rapid-response demo at Brandenburg Gate yesterday. That's where I took these photos.

By now, it appears that Artsakh's armed forces have surrendered, and that Azerbaijan will take control of the region. We must remain vigilant that no ethnic cleansing or genocide is committed.

The summer is slipping away. Maybe last Sunday of the wholesome in Mauerpark was the last summer day.

Here's a harsh truth that I've learned the hard way recently: No matter how kind you are, or how much you do for someone, there's no guarantee that they won't walk away.

We must accept that we can't control other people's behaviour, but this thought can bring us to consider our own behaviour.

on Saturday I did a photography job at Tempelhofer Feld. I broke a rule of photography work: don't wear clothes that attract attention. The t-shirt is from Berlin-based , a group which coordinates supplies for hospitals and left-wing activists in Ukraine, who are now fighting against the invasion.

The hat is from the women's defence units .volunteers of the revolutionary government of Rojava, the Kurdish de facto state in northern Syria.

The Radical Aid Force t-shirt bears the image of the late Dmitry Ilya Petrov, who raised the profile of the Rojava struggle among Russian-language readers. In 2018 he took part himself in the defence of . By 2021 he was in Ukraine and preparing for Russia's invasion. Ultimately he fought in and died in defence of Ukrainians at Bakhmut in April 2023.

Look up Petrov's work. He wrote a lot in english too. Don't despair at how things are. Be inspired by and support those who are fighting for a better world.

Eine kleine Auswahl meiner Fotos vom Samstag auf dem dopen Karneval von .berlin & ! Mittels eines theatrischen Umzug durch Kreuzberg haben wir dieses Kulturgut des Karnevals aus NRW angeeignet um die Immobilienlobby aus Berlin zu verdrängen!

Das muss echt sein, sonst müssen wir nach und nach unseren Umzug machen wenn wir aus Berlin durch die steigenden Mietpreise verdrängt werden. That's right, it's them, or us. Wenn die Wähler/innen in Berlin am nächsten Sonntag so abstimmen, dass weder SPD noch CDU größte Partei werden, dann gibt es eine Chance, den Volksentscheid in den nächsten Paar Jahren umgesetzt zu bekommen.

Zur gleichen Zeit waren DWenteignen Aktivisten in anderen Stadtteilen unterwegs um mit Menschen über die Wahl zu reden. Es sind die Menschen in der Kampagne DWenteignen, mit ihrem unendlichen Fleiß, Kreativität und Leidenschaft, die sind in meinen Augen der Hauptgrund, warum Berlin früher oder später den Volksentscheid umgesetzt bekommen wird! Dann wäre diese Wohnungskrise bald zu Ende, die für meine Generation definierend geworden ist. Diese Stadt, sind wir.

In the year 2122 on Mars, two humans sit on the shores of a terraformed sea discuss their relation-ship.

The advanced technology they grew up with and the great distances they have traveled do not change the fact that there are things that should have been said, but went unsaid; priorities misplaced with far-reaching consequences; and relationships that sadly faded away rather than burned bright. The couple watches the trade ships moored off the shore of the new human city of Odessa, on the shores of an ocean called the Hellas Sea.

This thought inspired me to give this photo strange colours and set it not in Greece, but on Mars.
The inspiration for that came from Kim Stanley Robinson’s Mars trilogy. This is a story of terraforming Mars, leading to full-scale human colonisation of the red planet. Humans bring with them the same problems and conflicts that have always shaped our species’ existence. The books feature characters with relationship conflicts, militarisation, geopolitical conflict, and tragedies of both personal and planetary nature.

Antifa Demo on 5th February 2022 at Evosmou Square (Πλατεία Ευόσμου), Thessaloniki. Which photo is your favourite?

On 05.02.22 there was a large anti-fascism demonstration in the Evosmos district of Thessaloniki. Teachers, students, trade unions and a broad array of citizens participated in a show of force against the actions of fascist groups inside and outside the schools. The protest was triggered by the horrific recent murder of the 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos at the hands of a fascist group.

"Get the fascist killers out of our schools and neighborhoods," was the message on one of the banners of the demo. The Federation of Parents & Guardians Associations of Central Macedonia* had called the rally, to denounce the action of fascist groups in schools in Stavroupoli, Evosmos, Ampelokipi and Neapolis. Its president Thanasis Kokonas stressed that "we will not allow fear and threats inside and outside the schools. It is our responsibility towards our children to eradicate all kinds of fascist ideology and actions. Fear has been broken, mouths have been opened."

The demo began at 17:00 and marched through Evosmos district for two hours as the night fell. It was noticeably attended by a demographically broad swath of people, with all age groups, women and men in attendance. This contrasted strongly with how similar demos in Germany are often dominated by men with a militant leftist image. At least three thousand people turned out in Thessaloniki to show once again that fascism will not pass!

On this rainy day in Berlin, Seebrücke Berlin and the Afghan community of Berlin held a rally at the Kanzleramt (chancellor's office) to demand the following of the Bundesregierung (federal government):

1. Immediate evacuation of all local staff and partners of the German government.
2. An admission programme for Afghans who have fought for women's rights, democracy and a free society in recent years.
3. Safe and legal passage for all people who have to flee from the Taliban.
4. Guarantee the right to stay for Afghan people living in Germany.

I support these demands.
