We enjoyed a beautiful day hiking through the Dolomites when we were suddenly surprised by a hail storm. Fortunately this old shed was nearby which we used as a shelter.

There are about 40.000 of these perfectly interlocking basalt columns at the Giant's Causeway as the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. Legend however says that the Irish giant Fionn built the damn to accept a fighting challenge by the Scottish giant Benandonner.

We arrived just after sunset at the Dark Hedges in Ireland. Quite an eerie mood with the old trees folding above the street in the fading daylight. Well worth to visit especially if you are a Game of Thrones fan (Kings Road).

A short story about a traditional horse race I photographed during my trip to Indonesia.

Horse racing has a long tradition for the Gayo people in Central Aceh-Sumatra. Traditionally small boys are the jockeys who ride without a saddle at dangerous speeds in a circular runway. The all-day event takes place in a village once a year which attracts visitors from all over the region.
