Diverse music, the aroma of spices, and the flavors of cuisines from every corner of the world – this is the heart of Barevná devítka, a traditional multicultural festival that brings people together in the most beautiful way.

On the main stage, the air vibrates with energy: fiery Cuban rhythms flow seamlessly into the deep pulse of African drums, while the sensual sway of Latino rumba invites everyone to move. Each performance feels like a journey across continents, and yet the festival itself feels intimate, cozy, and created for a single purpose – to unite people under one umbrella: the world.

What makes Barevná devítka truly special is not only the music or food, but the atmosphere of acceptance. There is no room for prejudice, no barriers of language or culture. I saw children from completely different backgrounds laughing and playing together, inventing games without even speaking the same tongue. That unspoken harmony – pure, simple joy – was the very essence of the experience.

Through my lens, I tried to capture those fleeting moments of happiness: a smile lit up by sunlight, hands clapping to a rhythm, strangers sharing food like old friends. To enhance that timeless spirit, I processed my photos with a Kodak Kodachrome film recipe, lending them a nostalgic, vintage look – almost as if these moments could belong to any decade, reminding us that joy, music, and togetherness are universal.
