My yearly dose of Scottish sailing magic with Go West.
If you’re looking for the best way to experience the West Coast of Scotland, look no further. I’ve been returning to Go West Sailing for years now, and there’s a reason for that loyalty. They simply get it right every single time.
This season’s trip from Oban to Largs was another epic chapter. We took Skylark of Clyde (their beautiful Oceanis 45) through everything from the "puffin therapy" on Lunga and the haunting beauty of Loch Moidart to the legendary currents of the Corryvreckan. We even hopped over to Rathlin and Sanda to hang out with the seals before finishing the leg through Brodick and Millport.
A few words on Skylark of Clyde.
She’s honestly a dream. It’s rare to find a boat this size that feels so safe and planted in heavy tidal areas and "proper" weather, yet remains so responsive and fun to sail when the wind lightens up. You can tell the Go West team puts their heart into maintenance. She was perfectly prepped and felt solid from start to finish.
The shore team deserves a massive shout-out too. Handovers are always smooth, professional, and feel more like catching up with friends who happen to be experts at what they do. They make the logistics look easy so you can focus on the sailing.
Thanks again to the whole Go West crew for another unforgettable adventure. See you next year!
