My Nana (grandmother) always used to comment on the cherry blossom tree outside her house in England all year round, but especially in late March when it began to blossom. “Isn’t it beautiful?” she would say.

Now, with her recent loss, anytime I see a blossomed tree (even an almond one here in Cyprus), it reminds me of her. I guess it’s no coincidence that we were both born in March.

She didn’t quite catch the bloom of her tree this year. March is that time of year when everything begins to blossom. The trees serve as little reminders that a new season is beginning and that things are about to get better. They show us that if you just wait long enough, you might get to see the beauty of nature in all its glory.

Their fleeting beauty also serves as a reminder that our time here is temporary and not something to take for granted. Life is so precious, but also short and unpredictable. So we must cherish it and live it despite what is happening around us, or perhaps choose carefully what around us we observe and take in. 🌸
