I woke up to a blue checkmark on my WhatsApp Business account… and I never applied for it.

No subscription.
No request.
It just appeared.

After looking into it, it came down to 3 things:
– Consistency (I’ve used this number professionally for 2+ years)
– Ad activity (running Click-to-WhatsApp campaigns)
– Meta’s new automatic verification rollout

Basically, Meta now verifies accounts that show strong authenticity signals, no application needed.

Now the focus is keeping it:
– Stay consistent
– Keep communication clean and professional
– No spam, no shortcuts
– Protect the brand identity

Didn’t chase it, but I’ll definitely maintain it.

Have you started seeing these automatic verifications too? 👀

There is a specific kind of energy that comes with daring to dream bigger, and .lynn.gloria embodies exactly that.

As a mentor and leader, Nana is proving that visibility and excellence aren’t reserved for a select few; they are earned by those who show up every day. She has inspired a whole generation of young women to stop playing small and start taking up space in their industries.

How do you get there? It starts with the same three things advocates for:

Dream Bigger: Don’t cap your potential before you even start.

Learn Faster: Stay curious and treat every challenge as a masterclass.

Stand Taller: Own your narrative, even when the room is loud.

The world moves forward because of people who refuse to stay quiet. One day, it will be your story inspiring the next person.

Happy International Women’s Day from Akonwi Creatives! 🩷

« Can’t you just make the logo bigger? »
It’s the classic request. But usually, the logo isn’t the problem. The hierarchy is.

As a professional, my job isn’t to « decorate » a page. It’s to manage your audience’s attention. Attention is a finite resource, and if everything is screaming for it, nothing gets heard.

When I choose a specific typeface or leave a massive amount of « empty » space, I’m not being lazy. I’m being surgical.

• The White Space: That’s not « wasted real estate. » It’s a roadmap for the eyes.
• The Font Weight: That’s not just a style choice. It’s a volume k**b for the message.
• The Color Palette: That’s not about my favorite aesthetic. It’s about the psychological « vibe » of the brand.
If you have to explain where to look, the visual system has failed. The goal isn’t to make something « pretty » it’s to make something that works so well, the viewer doesn’t even realize they’re being guided.

The best work is the work you don’t actually « see. » You just feel the clarity.
Does your current brand identity give your audience a clear path, or is it just making noise?

Podcast

For the next episode of my podcast, Asaba Is Talking, I’ll have a conversation with on graphic design, branding, AI, and what it truly means to grow into authority as a creative today.

Cecilia is a creative specialist, brand designer, and strategist, and her journey has influenced how many young professionals think about visibility, positioning, and impact in Cameroon.

In this episode, we’ll explore:
• What separates designers who stay small from those who scale
• How AI is changing the way creatives think and work
• The responsibility that comes with influence
• And the lessons that come from mentoring others

The episode is still in the making, you can listen to previous episodes while waiting:

I just shared the full design process for my podcast, Asaba Is Talking, on Behance.

For this project, I wanted the brand to be a literal reflection of the show. I actually used the audio recording of the word « Asaba » to form the logo, turning a split-second of speech into a clean, modern icon.

The main goal of this visual identity was to make the brand instantly recognizable.

We already have two episodes live, on with and

Building this identity has been a huge part of the journey. I’d love for you to check out the full case study and let me know what you think.

Year In Design is my yearly portfolio. The initial idea was to showcase the work I did throughout the year.
Last year, I released Year In Design 2024 (bit.ly/YearInDesign), but there was a problem with it: only graphic designers were able to relate to it and appreciate the work. Everyone else just didn’t get it. And when I looked at it from the perspective of a regular person, all I saw was a display of mockups and shiny designs that didn’t really explain themselves or say anything to them; I decided to fix that this year.
YearInDesign25 will not just be an online portfolio; it will also be a physical magazine that not only showcases the work I did throughout the year, but also tells the story behind every design in a way anyone can enjoy. There will even be a section where we hear a few words from the brand owners themselves.
I’m still working on it, and I can’t wait to show you the final output. It will be completed later next month, but in the meantime, you can view YearInDesign2024 here: bit.ly/YearInDesign
