I originally grew up in Damascus, Syria, but now reside in Zürich with my wife and kids. Throughout my life, I’ve been fortunate enough to study architecture and urban design, and I am working with those talents in Zurich City. I am also a self-taught photographer, with a focus on black and white photography. It’s a huge passion of mine, being able to catch the slightest subtle facial expressions,
and what makes people really unique. really stand out to me in photos. Studying architecture benefited me by letting me see things from a different, creative perspective. My oriental roots, and overall enjoyment that comes from watching people simply live their lives allows me to see things from different angles, as well. Drawing and painting allowed me the benefit of learning different colors and compositions, and what worked well together. It’s incredible how the skills that come from architecture and design can carry over so well into photography. I began dabbling in photography in 2014, and it began as nothing more than a hobby. However, it didn’t take long after shooting landscapes, and portraits of my children for me to be completely fascinated by how much can be shown in just a single photo. You’re essentially capturing a moment that will never happen again, so everything from facial features to expressions carries a lot of weight and meaning. It’s that weight, and the importance of it, that I try to capture in every single portrait - when you’re able to freeze a moment, it lasts forever, and that’s what makes portrait photography so unique. I see art when I look at every single person, and whatever their passions and ambitions may be, they can blossom them into their own talents. Being able to draw the moment through photography is almost like a brush meeting canvas, with beautiful colors that can’t be replicated. Personally, I have plenty of dreams, and they are constantly evolving as I reach some of them and strive for bigger ones. At the moment, my dream is to have a successful natural-light studio, where I can capture photos of some of my favorite Hollywood movie stars. I’d also love to teach photography to others - they may sound like heavy dreams to some people, but my motto is always, "impossible is nothing".
