All was calm that evening with only the melody of birds to break the silence. Then he came and nonchalantly walked into this beautiful field of dreams. He stopped here and then along the way, looked around, then disappeared into the forest.

Those are the moments that stay with you, and make going out there time and time again all worth it.

After servicing Savolyeres’ slopes in the Verbier 4Vallées for nearly half a century, this iconic lift of Verbier will finally take its retirement.

I took advantage of last week’s exceptional weather to immortalise it during one of the last snow storms it would ever see.

In order to convey the intense energy and turmoil of the moment I opted to shoot with a slow shutter speed.
