Taking in the solar eclipse’s final moments before it disappeared below the Jura mountains was my highlight of Wednesday’s event.

The dense haze of a hot summer evening diffused the light in such a manner that it made it possible to take in the spectacle with the naked eye. I watched the warmed tone palette of the sun slowly liquify as it dipped away below the horizon.

I’ll most likely not witness another solar eclipse sunset in this lifetime but I sure am glad that I was there for this one.

All was calm that evening with only the melody of birds to break the silence. Then he came and nonchalantly walked into this beautiful field of dreams. He stopped here and then along the way, looked around, then disappeared into the forest.

Those are the moments that stay with you, and make going out there time and time again all worth it.
