Living in Windsor, Ontario, an area that is ENTIRELY flat, I am always somewhat in awe of rock formations, with the richness of their colours from red, to green, brown, and gold tones. I am certainly no geologist, but man, rocks are COOL. 😎 How beautiful that our earth naturally produces so many organic, unique shapes in a variety of earthy tones.

This weekend I got to participate in a festival I have been eyeing for years 😊 it hadn't worked out for me to attend until now, but this year was the year! It felt so good to finally give myself this gift of being a part of something I love (plein air painting) in an adorable town with other talented artists.

Pictured is my submission to the Elora quick paint competition — a sort of mini side quest to the main event — painted en plein air May 16, 2026, at Bissell Park, in Elora.

All of the artists had two hours to complete an 8x10 in piece. I chose a view I liked, busted out my new set of oil pastels, and got down to business. I titled this beauty, "The Giving Tree". I was so focused on getting the layers down, I forgot to take any photos of myself with the piece or video of the process! It was a fun challenge. Thanks to the Elora Plein Air team and its volunteers for organizing this event.

DM me if you're interested in this piece, but it will be for sale first at the Elora Centre for the Arts tomorrow afternoon. I'm asking $150 for it.

Have you ever been to Elora, Ontario?
They have a plein air art festival going on right now, which includes an exhibition and sale this Sunday afternoon at the Elora Centre for the Arts. I am a participating artist, and will have a painting or two available for sale at the exhibition.
There will be beautiful works by roughly 70 artists, each piece completed within the past few days by artists painting outdoors, on location.
Swipe to the 2nd and 3rd images in this carousel to see the scene I plan to paint with watercolours tomorrow, and a piece I did using pastels today, which is nearly finished.
May I recommend a day trip to Elora this Sunday? 🤩✨️

The perspective on this one was inspired by places like the Cliffs of Moher. That feeling, how close can I get to the edge without risking falling off? The view is breathtaking and larger than life AND so hard to capture in a photo! Any time I try it just never captures the grandeur and the vastness of the landscape.
