A Mothers Love

Watching this Mom help her Fawn keep her fur in perfect shape, is simply a beautiful example of a Mothers love.
Living along side Deer sure gives you an appreciation for the softer side of the Wildlife.

Cleaning his Nose

Well I guess you have to clean your nose somehow, and Deer don't have hands, which makes it hard to use tissue paper.
He doesn't look overly impressed that I filmed him doing it though...

A Lucky Raven

I spotted this Raven recovering in the grass, I'm not sure exactly what happened to it but I am guessing it was lucky to have gotten through it. A wet Raven on a dry day with a bit of a limp, must have a story to tell of some sort.
Also, It can be considered lucky to see a Raven, so I hope a little of this birds luck goes your way as well.

Battle Damaged Buck

The biggest Buck in our neighborhood is showing some battle damage from the rut, I'm not sure what the other Buck looks like but I'm sure it isn't pretty. All part of being head of the herd, I guess.

I'm ready!

This young buck with his sharp little antlers wanted to play with one of the big Bucks, and it was awesome to see how patient this older Buck was with his annoying little brother who just kept poking at him.
My parents used to say "it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye", but I've never seen a buck with a missing eye...

A Rust colored Fox

We have a fox that we see regularly and I have featured her on our channel quite a few times. We think this might be one of her cubs from the spring, all grown up. Of course we can't be sure, but either way this second fox is a curious fellow.

A Woodpecker of the Female variety

The Males get all of the attention!
We have a family of Hairy Woodpeckers that we often spot around the property. This is the female, as you can tell by the lack of a red patch on the back of her head, but we also have her mate and her offspring (also a male) from this year showing up on an almost daily basis. It's a shame that the males get all the attention with that bright red patch when the females are so pretty in their own right.
This is one of the many reasons why I love the Cariboo!

Crossing the trail

Deer are everywhere in the Cariboo so seeing one cross the trail in front of me is no big deal, but on a beautiful day in a golden field full of butterflies with a particularly charismatic deer certainly doesn't happen every day. This particular deer crossing is from Autumn last year, but it was such a nice day I thought I'd relive it again.

Ambush! - Fox Chase

I was filming this Fox snooping around my Garden when a second Fox jumped into screeno chasing the first Fox away. A nice ambush attack if I don't say so myself... a minute later the two Foxes came running back through my yard with the chasey and the chaser reversed. I managed to get a couple of photographs off as well as these two battled then paused repeatedly over the next couple of minutes before chasing each other off into the distance. Quite a show, and I was lucky to witness it!

High Speed Fuzzball - Mountain Chickadees

It is amazing how fast these little birds are as they hop from branch to branch through the forest canopy. These are one of my favorite birds to practice photography with, if you can capture these flighty little Mountain Chickadee (or any Chickadee) in action, filming an Eagle or an Osprey when the opportunity arises seems easy in comparison.
