I think I may have driven this highway 1000 times, no exaggeration. And I just chatting with my friend Amber about how at this point photography along this road is more about noticing when things are unusual - something more than baseline beauty.

Fast-forward seven hours later as I was driving from Skagway to Carcross and the colour tones were different than I’d seen before. Here is some footage straight from my drone, which I captured quick by phone as the drone was landing.

Check out this angle!

I launched the drone south of MP 16 to catch 3006 hugging the cliff on its way to Slippery Rock.

The line here looks impossible — just rails, rock, and a whole lot of air underneath.

Still wild to think these same GEs make this run multiple times a day during the season. So many people get to experience this ride — but not often from this perspective.

Above the Trestle.

Looking down from on the tunnel at MP 16 as 3006 eases across the high bridge.

These NRE units are the everyday workhorses of the White Pass & Yukon Route — still tackling the same steep grades and tight curves that have tested engineers for more than a century.

Hard to beat this view from the climb, even if it meant beating back the bush (and the bugs).

From time up on MP 18!

Can’t get enough of this view — northbound into the tunnel at MP 18, with the historic cantilever bridge in the background. Built for the Gold Rush, adapted for modern trains, and still one of the most scenic railroad moments anywhere. Standing here watching it unfold feels like time travel.
