For pretty much my entire photography journey, I’ve avoided one thing: photographing people 😂😅
Landscapes & wildlife are my happy place. But the thought of someone actually paying me to stand on the other side of my lens? No thank you!!! Cue the nerves, the overthinking and the immediate desire to run away 🤣
Lately though, I’ve decided it’s time to stop letting those nerves make the decision for me and get over my fear! I’ve had the opportunity to try a couple of portrait sessions recently, and I’m honestly really proud of myself for stepping outside of my comfort zone and just doing it. I'm still learning! Every session has already taught me so much and always something new... about light, locations, posing, camera settings, working with people, and all those little things you don’t fully understand until you’re actually out there doing it. But I’ve also learned that once I get past the nerves… I have fun 🥰
I’m excited to keep practicing, keep learning, and eventually discover what my style of portrait photography looks like. I know that will come with time, experience, mistakes, experimentation and lots more time behind the camera.
For now, I’m just really proud that I finally said yes to something that has intimidated me for years ❤️
Here are a few favourites from my first adventures into portrait photography this Fall 🍂
Here’s to trying new things, even when they scare you a little! 🧡
