Steel Wool Fire Dance
The image is a 17 second exposure created by lighting steel wool that is stuffed into a kitchen whisk attached to a piece of string and spinning the ignited steel wool.
This was the second shot after slowing down the spin to reduce the amount of sparks.

You need three things when photographing birds in flight
1) The sun behind you to brighten the subject.
2) The wind behind you as birds take off into the wind.
3) help from the photograph gods.
Otherwise you end up with the ignominy of a bum shot.
