We see this a lot. A business gets a nice video made, it goes on the website, and then not much happens. The video itself is usually fine. The problem is that nobody decided what it was for before it was made.

Never make a video just to make a video. 🎬

It's the first thing we tell every new client. A lot of business videos get made because it felt like time to have one. They look great, they go on the homepage, and then they just sit there.

Every week someone asks us whether they should just make their next ad with AI. Honest answer: it comes down to your audience and how you want them to feel.

We use AI tools every day behind the scenes, and we're open to it when it truly makes sense, like a simple product video. But when it comes to trust, nothing beats real faces, real places and real stories. Even McDonald's pulled its AI Christmas ad last year after people said it felt creepy.

One of the most fun things I’ve learned over the years in filmmaking is that there’s a right tool for every job.

Whether it’s a tripod, a shoulder rig, handheld, specialized rigging, or a gimbal when the shot calls for it, every tool has its purpose.

Learning when and why to use each one has made a huge difference in how I approach a shot. It keeps things creative, opens up new possibilities, and makes the whole process a lot more fun.

It’s not about using the fanciest gear. It’s about knowing your tools and choosing the right one to tell each part of the story or style differently.

There’s a lot of noise out there telling you what you should do.

What’s realistic.
What won’t work.
What you should focus on.
What you should give up on.

I think sometimes you just have to keep going anyway.

Follow what genuinely interests you.
Try things.
Make mistakes.
Try again.
Meet people & build relationships. Be good to the people around you, and stay true to who you are and what you want to create.

And work HARD! (This part is important)

Not because hard work guarantees success, but because you never really know what can come from simply continuing to show up.
