YOUTUBE PREMIERE ANNOUNCEMENT!

Sixty seven days. 14,000 kilometres. 8,700 miles.
Long enough for the North to change you.

On Wednesday, March 11 at 10 AM PST I am releasing the full documentary of my journey through the Yukon and Northwest Territories to the Arctic Ocean.

This is not a scenic highlight reel.

It is a 25 minute film about what it actually feels like to spend time in the North. The distance. The scale. The small moments that only happen when you stay long enough.

From the dust of the Dempster Highway to the silence of the Arctic and Southeast Alaska coast, this is the most substantial project I have ever produced.

Join the YouTube Premiere and watch it with me live.

Set your reminder and jump into the chat when it begins.

Here is the link to the Premiere:
https://youtu.be/WwHb-Wv2dOU

While waiting for the premiere to start, let me know in the comments if you’ve ever been to the North. If so, where have you been?

And while you’re watching, tell me which moment in the film felt most like the North to you.

Experience a 14,000 km Arctic road trip documentary through British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories, the legendary Dempster Highway to the Arctic Ocea...

LYNX WOODS blends forest and feline in a seamless visual metaphor for nature’s hidden sentience. At first glance, it’s a tranquil boreal landscape photographed in fall tones, but look closer and the gaze of a lynx slowly reveals itself, camouflaged within the trees. The image invites the viewer to consider the forest not just as scenery, but as a living entity, quietly observing, ancient, aware.

This boreal forest was photographed in the Northwest Territory and inspired by rare sightings of this elusive animal. The lynx hidden in the forest was photographed in the Yukon during a very close and incredible encounter. Both experiences were one of the highlights of my 67 day, 14,000 km journey all the way to the Arctic Ocean.

This is the third in a twice weekly series showcasing the surreal landscape images of trees, water, and mountains by renowned photographer Carsten Arnold, a Chilliwack based Fine Art Photographer for the past 50 years. Photographed primarily in British Columbia, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Manitoba, and Newfoundland while on backroad, hiking, and canoeing adventures into remote locations.

"Drifting" represents a suspended world between surface and depth, a threshold where two realms fold into one another, neither fixed nor fleeting. The reflection does not merely echo but transforms, suggesting parallel worlds aligned for a moment in fragile balance, inviting the eye to wander between realities as though consciousness itself were set adrift.

Photographed in the rugged beauty of Manitoba’s lake country, Canada.

Photographed primarily in British Columbia, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories while on backroad and hiking adventures into remote locations.

"Dreaming" invites the viewer into a place where reality softens and imagination takes root. Layers of light, texture, and shifting tones weave together into a living tapestry, creating the sensation of being gently drawn into another world. Within its quiet depth, the forest transforms into a dream, a sanctuary of whispers, mystery, and timeless stillness, where every glance reveals new subtleties waiting to be discovered.

Photographed on the remote island of Haida Gwaii, on the far western coast of British Columbia, Canada.

Photographed primarily in British Columbia, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories while on backroad adventures into remote locations.

"Canadian and American Border Peaks" captures a sweeping alpine vista that transcends boundaries. Rising with quiet strength, each peak stands rooted in its own identity, shaped by different sides of a shared wilderness. They face the same sky, weather the same storms, and reflect across the same land, yet they remain distinctly themselves.

Photographed in the high country overlooking the Chilliwack River Valley, east of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Big Website Update!
I’ve made some major changes to https://www.carstenarnold.com/ worth a visit if you haven’t checked it out lately.

My homepage now gives equal focus to both sides of my business: Surreal fine art landscapes and Architectural & Interiors photography. The fine art gallery has been refined to showcase only my best open edition dreamlike images, many highlighting the Chilliwack and Fraser Valley region.

Prints are now offered in one standard size and locally printed for BC clients, with custom sizes still available.

Coming in 2026! I’ll be launching a Limited Edition International Collector’s Series featuring larger works on museum grade papers, metal, and acrylic, printed by the worlds top fine art photo lab in Germany. A recent gallery visit in Amsterdam confirmed it, this is the level of quality my new work demands.

Reaching. Trees have a calming effect and make for wonderful home, office, and hospitality decor. These were photographed along the Chuckanut Drive in Washington state, long before the mayhem that keeps me from that country. Displayed in the room scene as a 30 x 40 metal print but is also available as a print or on canvas. View sizes and pricing here: https://www.carstenarnold.com/fine-art-gallery.

I'm looking forward to teaching "Photography & the Art of Seeing", a new and sold out workshop this month at the University of the Fraser Valley's Elder College program. This is my third year teaching at Elder College. After 50 years of pressing the shutter literally millions of times I've learned a thing or two, and am proud to be giving back to the photography community. https://app.amilia.com/store/en/chilliwack-eldercollege/shop/activities/5681347

It is not always possible to photograph a clients home without their being some kind of distractions in the way that can't be moved. Cloudy or boring skies? Vehicles in the way with no one home to remove them? Nothing is impossible to remove or change these days using the latest Photoshop tools. I photographed this home recently in the Cultus Lake area in Chilliwack.
