One of the things I’ve learned from photographing dogs is that there doesn’t need to be a special occasion to pick up a camera. Sometimes the most meaningful reason is simply wanting to remember them exactly as they are today.
That’s what brought me to Stewiacke River Park with Julia, Stella, and Tia.
Rather than trying to force perfect poses, we spent the evening letting Stella and Tia do what they love. They explored, chased their toys, swam, and every so often stopped to check in with Julia. Those quiet moments of connection ended up being some of my favourite photographs from the evening.
There’s something special about photographing dogs when they’re allowed to just be themselves. Their personalities come through, their bond with the people they love becomes obvious, and those are the moments that mean the most.
As the evening went on, it became clear why this session mattered. It wasn’t about celebrating a milestone. It was about preserving the everyday moments that, over time, become the ones we treasure most.
Thank you for trusting me with these memories.
