Ensign, the doodle made for dreamy colour harmony with the muted tones in the marsh grasses, while his Irish Setter brother, Kestrel was stunning in the red leaves. 🐕🍁🍂

We had a perfect evening for this beach session with 4 dogs near Richibucto, NB. Their family had recently learned that their senior dog, 15 year old Claire had a brain tumour, so we didn’t waste any time and fit their session in ASAP. I’m so thankful that I was able to capture these portraits for Claire’s family, and that she was still able to enjoy a few more trips to the beach after this, before her time ran out. 😢🌈🐕

Claire, Roo, Aiko, and Mia will be featured in the Tails of the Hub City book.

On another note, in chatting during the session, this client and I figured out that we grew up just a few blocks away from each other in the west end of Toronto, only to meet for the first time, all these years later in NB!

Here’s an oldie, but a goodie, and a breed you don’t see every day! I love the way Hush, the Bedlington Terrier’s coat is the exact same colour and fluffy texture of the clouds. My favourite part of this session was that Amy Hunter spent all day grooming Hush and his siblings for the photo shoot, but then still let them run in the mud on the beach at the end. She assured me “Hush has a show this weekend, so I’ll groom him at least 3 more times before then! That’s dedication.

Last week, I visited .sba to photograph some of the pets there for Global Adoption Weekend, sponsored by . Here are the adorable cats 🐈 I got to meet. Professor Chunk is quite the character!

Pet adoption is close to my heart because I worked in animal shelters for over 15 years before trading in my scrubs for a camera. All of my pets have been rescues, including our amazing cat Shazam!, who came from .sba’s barn buddies program. He has turned out to be the smartest, sweetest cat I’ve ever lived with. We often say he’s our best behaved dog 🤣.

1 in 3 pets worldwide don’t have homes, your new best friend may be waiting for you at a shelter!

At any given time, close to 400 million animals in shelters around the world are waiting and hoping for their families to find them. Please consider .sba the next time you’re thinking about adding a new family member.

I’m a finalist for Best in Class for Conceptual Illustration in the PPOC Eastern Image competition. I can’t share the image right now, because it will move on to Nationals next year, but I’m very proud because I put a lot of work into this one! Eastern includes all 4 Atlantic provinces, Quebec, and Ontario, so the competition is quite fierce.
