You just never know what people will bring to Don Lee & Chris Stringer's annual Union Sound Extravaganza!

Fine and Vintage Musical Gear's 1969 Marshall 1917 outfit makes for a lovely (and moderately loud, without being OTT) backdrop too! 😉

More incredible goodies from last weekend's Union Sound Company 2026 Grand Day Out.

This 1957 Les Paul Custom was restored to triple-PAF perfection by Nathan Schiller, with assistance from the luthiers at Folkway Music.

The two rare Marshall amps are both from 1969: a 20 watt model 1917 atop twin 2 x 10s, and a vibrant red Capri combo. Both from the collection of Fine and Vintage Musical Gear.

Thanks to Chris Stringer for the use of his historic recording studio for the afternoon and to Don Lee for "herding the cats" from all over Ontario. 😉

And thanks to Don Lee and Chris Stringer 's 5th annual Union Sound guitar meetup on the weekend, I found it!

Huge thanks to Don for organizing again, and of course Chris for providing his space at Union Sound Company. It was a great afternoon hang with good friends! More pics to come...

Hey there! It's been a while! How've you been?

I was up at 5 am this morning taking photos. Not very "rock n roll", I know! Unless you're up at 5 am taking photos because you haven't been to bed yet! 😂

Anyhoo: I was up early taking pics of my 2007 Custom Shop '60 Relic Strat and 1959 Fender Princeton and thought I'd do a quick share. For old times' sake.

How I wish, how I wish you were here.

This shot from 2013 showed up on an old memory card today. Seeing it actually caused me to experience a visceral, physical, pain and profound sadness. 😭

Why? Because of my own stupidity. This was a beautiful guitar. I got it for an incredible price in 2012 from a now defunct local guitar shop, and, in a moment of inexplicable madness, I sold it 5 years later. Why? I wanted a "long neck" 330. Like a chump. 🙄

I know. Pure insanity. It was gorgeous and I didnt appreciate it...

I'm just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl. Year after year...

Ric 🐢 and I are so lucky to have friends like Tom Gibson who loan us their beautiful guitars like this 2013 Memphis ES-295 Reissue.

As Ric akways says "There's absolutely nothing quite as breath-taking as a deep, rich, Bullion Gold finish, sprayed by the professionals at Gibson".

What can I add to that? Nothing. The turtle knows quality. 🙌👌🤘
