Walking down the Peanut Lane - a former railroad path spanning Quebec and Eastern Ontario. A lot of the path crosses the farmer's fields, which give you sights like these!

A case/subject study. I have two assignments from a photography club: "Leading Lines" and "One" (this one is very open to interpretation)

I think I might have gathered enough material for the "leading lines" but I'll keep working on "one" still, have some ideas but need time to make them happen... But anyways, what do you think of these ones, any favourites for a shortlist?

We went for a long walk along the Cornwall (ON) Canal and my wife Sophie was an excellent wildlife spotter! The lighter cormorant is not a female, as I initially thought, but rather a juvenile, under 2 years old with not yet mature plumage. The muskrat and the beaver were a nice sight as well.

The sky was exceptionally clear towards the horizon this evening and I finally had a chance to try the Moon trail idea over by the South Lancaster Wharf!

Tonight's Moon is both a Blue moon (second full Moon in a month) and a micromoon - when the Moon is at its apogee, farthest in it's orbit from Earth (407000kms versus perigree/closest/supermoon that's at 357000kms). The size difference between micromoon and supermoon is 14% and brightness difference is 30%

Anyway, I'm 40 now and I'm old and going to sleep, goodnight!

It's my birthday today! So I finally sat down to edit my Spring season project that I've been working on for the past few months - please welcome Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex!

Located in the constellation Ophiuchis this wonder region rises in our Southern sky in the spring time, but only as high as 20° above the horizon for a few hours at a time. This is super low and below recommended altitude for taking good astrophotos (because the closer you are to the horizon the more atmosphere you're shooting through, which introduces all kinds of distortions and light pollution gradients) - but at our 45rh latitude I don't have a choice in the matter - I only had a few hours per clear night at best to get the data from it.

This is a 2-panel mosaic with 12 hours total imaging time spread over 6 nights during Spring 2026.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed working on it! 🙏

Milky Way over Cooper's March over at Raisin Region Conservation Authority

I really love making nighttime photographs. Unfortunately, the vast majority of them are composed of at least several photos taken with different camera settings and even within different times of evening/night. Some would not call this photography. I like to think of it as a form of fine art photography - those require extensive developing and post production, and that is also true for my nightscapes and pure astrophotography images like galaxies and nebulae.

I hope you enjoy this newest work, it took a while to put it together in a way I liked. As always, thanks for your support and encouragement!

Keep looking up,
Oleg

P.S. if you want to have some of the magic of this image dispelled go on to the comment section - I'll post two constituent images (one of which itself is a combination of 100 images 10s long each) that I used to get the final image created

On Monday I was hunting for an International Space Station transit over the sun, but didn't quite get it. I was able to get a bird transit, though 🤭

Midday Sun around a week ago - shot with Coronado SolarMax 90 and ToupTek2600 astro camera that allowed me to get a full Sun disk in the frame. It's kind of hard to see the motion in the individual Sun areas so I had to get creative with the choice zoom sections in the video to showcase some activity happening at the same time.

Hope you enjoy this little showcase.

Clear skies,
Oleg
