For years I've been saying I wanted to make it out to Back to Batoche, and this year I finally did!
Wow... what an incredible experience.
We took my family and my parents on Saturday, and was such a fun day. We ran into so many friends, enjoyed some delicious food, watched the chariot races and chuckwagon races, and the boys had an absolute blast trying out the shooting range with the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation.
We wandered through the market, explored the pavilions, listened to amazing fiddlers, and spent time watching the jigging competition. I don't think it's possible for my hands and feet to stay still while watching jigging! My feet start tapping, my hands start clapping, and I can't help but smile. Every single dancer did an incredible job.
One of my favourite unexpected moments? Hearing the announcer repeatedly trying to reunite Dorothy with her husband over the loudspeaker. 😂 I was so happy when they finally found each other!
What an amazing celebration of Métis culture, community, music, food, and tradition. I'm so glad we finally experienced it, and I'm already looking forward to coming back next year.
Have you ever been to Back to Batoche? What is your favourite part?!
