What a lovely way to spend a Saturday.

Today, I had the privilege of sitting down with two men and listening to their stories from the Centennial Voyager Canoe Pageant — stories of the journey, the people, and the moments that have stayed with them all these years.

Being trusted to help document these stories is something I don’t take lightly. There is so much history held in the memories of the people who lived it, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help preserve a little piece of it.

Thank you to the Central New Brunswick Woodmen's Museum Inc. for welcoming me into this project and trusting me with these stories. It truly is a privilege.

We all have those places that never seem to get old. A favourite view, bridge, riverbank, trail, sunset spot, or maybe a hidden gem most people don’t know about.

Some are places we see every day. Some we only visit once in a while. And some might be thousands of kilometres away, but somehow, one photo is all it takes to bring you right back home.

So, what’s that place for you around Miramichi?

There’s something about stepping inside an old building and realizing that the people who lived and worked there left pieces of their everyday lives behind.

The Trapper’s Cabin at the Woodsman Museum offers a glimpse into a way of life that has largely faded from the Miramichi landscape — from the tools they used to the simple necessities of daily life.

It’s one small part of the museum, but there’s a whole story waiting inside.

Okay… I had to pick up a few more.

The more you look around the Woodsmen Museum, the more you realize just how much there is to discover. Each building feels like stepping into a different piece of the past, filled with tools, objects, and details that tell you something about how people lived and worked here.

You could easily spend hours wandering from building to building — and still find something you missed the first time.

These are just a few more of the things that caught our eye. You really have to see it for yourself.

There is so much to see at the Woodsmen Museum.

Each building holds its own collection of artefacts, stories, and little pieces of the past. From the tools people relied on to the everyday objects that made up life in another time, there’s something to discover around every corner.

Every single artefact has a story of its own.

And honestly, choosing just a few photos to share was really hard. There was so much we wanted to show you.

These are just a few glimpses of what you’ll find here.

Tucked away along the Miramichi River, the Woodman’s Museum is one of those places that can be easy to miss — until you stop and take a closer look.

Inside the old buildings are pieces of a way of life that feels so far removed from today. Trapping gear, blacksmithing tools, old machinery, cabins, handmade pieces, and the everyday objects that tell the stories of the people who lived and worked in this part of New Brunswick.

There’s something about standing among those old buildings, surrounded by forest, that makes history feel a little less distant.

The 2026 season is coming to an end soon, so if you’ve been meaning to visit, take this as your sign to make the trip. Give yourself some time to wander, look closely, and let the place tell you a few stories.

The Central New Brunswick Woodsmens Museum is one of those local places worth discovering — and we highly recommend making the stop before the season is over. 🌲

The aquarium isn’t just for the kids.

It’s a pretty cool place to learn more about New Brunswick’s marine ecosystems and the species that call our waters home.

Here are just a few of the fish and marine life you can see while exploring Aquarium NB.

Sometimes you don’t have to travel far to learn something new about the waters right in our own backyard.

One of my favourite things about Aquarium NB is how interactive it is for kids.

It’s not just about walking around and looking at the exhibits — there are opportunities for kids to get hands-on, explore, and actually engage with what they’re learning.

It makes the whole experience feel a lot more memorable, especially for little ones who want to touch, discover, and ask a million questions.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly stop in Shippagan, this is definitely one to check out.

There’s just something about a lighthouse.

Standing beside these and seeing them against the water, rocks, and open sky was one of my favourite parts of the trip.

A few different views before you enter the aquarium.
