After the storm, magic happens! Just came across this one while looking for another image I haven't yet located - we sure can get some stunning sunsets this time of year. This was taken 4 years ago on a night that was just wild for fantastic beauty - came across a double rainbow in the harbour after a big storm and the sunset following was a kaleidoscope of changing colours and cloud shapes. Just magical!

Like many of you today, I headed down to the berm looking forward to the Port Stanley Calipso Festival Car Show with the Canadian Bombshell Beauties, only to discover there were problems. There is a ton of discussion in the groups about what may or may not have happened but without question what should have happened didn't and it was extremely unfortunate.

As someone who loves to take pictures and help promote some of the things happening in the village - and speaking for the friends and businesses - it saddens us greatly that so many had a negative experience and were made to feel unwelcome. We truly love our visitors to Port Stanley and highly value the time we spend chatting with you all year 'round.

Hopefully lessons learned from today (and many other examples) in the days and weeks ahead can form a starting point to doing things differently. Many assume a village council structure that hasn't existed this century and that has it's challenges but the potential is amazing if we can break down some of the silos and work together.

Relocated car show aside, I hope some of you had some fun times this Calipso weekend and if you're nearby there are fireworks tonight starting in about an hour.

The fireworks planned for tonight have been rescheduled to tomorrow night, which is a great call given the weather. The forecast looks fabulous so why not start with dinner on the beach at GTs On The Beach before checking out the other Port Stanley Calipso Festival events and fireworks over the lake.

A quick break from the Port Stanley Fire Hall Market yesterday to check out some of the Port Stanley Calipso Festival activity and snap a few pictures of the boat parade. The Port Stanley Calipso Festival Calipso Mermaids are coming this weekend and the kids will love it! Catch them at Mermaid Cove on Little Beach Saturday 10-2 and 3-8, Sunday 10-8 and Monday 10-3. A special treat for the little ones is mermaid story time at 2:30 on Saturday and Sunday.

Arrr, there be pirates! One of Port Stanley's favourite visitors is back this weekend for the Port Stanley Calipso Festival and you don't want to miss it! A fun show for children of all ages, catch Thom Bedlam's Pirate Magic Show in Glover Park on Saturday beginning at 11:00 and hourly through to 5 pm (with a break for the boat parade at 1:00) and at 11, 12, 1, 5, 6 and 7 pm on Sunday and 11, 12 and 1 on Monday. So much fun!

Port Stanley Calipso Festival is coming - this long weekend - and we can't wait. One of the highlights is always the boat parade at 1:00 on Saturday so be sure to head to the harbour for a unique Port Stanley festival experience.
