It was an honour tonight to take some pictures at a fabulous evening in support of Barrie Family Hospice of Elgin at the Port Stanley Arena. The Lions Club of Port Stanley Lioness and the Optimist Club of Port Stanley hosted "Mamma Mia, Here we Go Again" a Ladies Night in support of this wonderful cause and Port Stanley turned up! Amazing costumes, delicious snacks, laughs and dancing, tons of fun and smiles all 'round - great job everyone!

The poppy project will soon be underway and the village beautifully transformed to a sea of remembrance thanks to the work of so many amazing people with the Port Stanley Poppy Project. This year there is something new to make it even more wonderful - Poppy Scarves to go on Port's Post People and purple poppies for your pets. Both available for a donation at the Port Stanley Legion on October 24th and 31st. What a great idea!

Santa's coming and you don't want to miss it! The posters will soon be out and about for the 28th Annual Dickens Day Night Parade brought to you by the Port Stanley Lions Club and the Lions Club of Port Stanley Lioness. Mark your calendars for Friday November 27th, but now is the time to be thinking about entering a float to be part of this magical evening in Port Stanley. Strange sightings have been reported in the village this evening. Ghosts have appeared on porches, scarecrows have taken up residence outside local shops and authorities seem completely unconcerned. The Great Ghost & Scarecrow Takeover has officially begun. Keep your eyes open and report any suspiciously charming activity when you visit the spooktacular shops and restaurants of Port Stanley. 🎃👻🍂

An artsy one to end the night and a little history from the recently updated Heritage Port Stanley walking tour.

Christ Anglican Church (1845), is Port Stanley's oldest place of worship and was constructed on lands donated by the village's widely acknowledged founder John Bostwick. It played a significant role in the religious and social life of the setetlement. In 1854 the steeple was added including a bell weighing 400 pounds. The beautiful commemorative stained glass windows were later additions. The grounds surrounding the church constitute the only cemetery in the village. Here, in the shaded churchyard are the graves of prominent church members including the grave of John Bostwick himself. At the front entrance of the church a provincial plaque and an interpretative pedestal sign describe his life.
