I discovered at 35 years old that I have ADHD and after being medicated for the first time and at 36 with autism. I got to a point in my life, where I realized that I needed something or else I would not last. Exploring and camping became lifelines for me. A way to push through to tomorrow, push myself and do something I've always wanted to do. But always in the past found excuses (and valid ones)
to put it off. With my mental health and life on the line, I said no more waiting! And here I am. Doing it. And doing it solo if needed. Exploring the outdoors has not fixed my mental health, or save my life unfortunately. What it has given me is the ability to advocate and stand up for myself better than before. I gained confidence in my own ability for everything. I am not new to the battle with mental health but now I am for the first time, on the winning side of that battle. I use the outdoors now to help me discover who I am and what I am capable of. Join me on my journey.
