Tonight I had the pleasure of photographing one of my favourite little families as they prepare to welcome their newest addition. ❤️

One of the greatest joys of this job is watching families grow. While I may not have been there from the very beginning, I've had the honour of capturing so many special memories along their journey, and it never ceases to amaze me how quickly time passes.

I also have to take a moment to brag about Tynika. She is one bad ass mama. Not only is she a successful business owner, but she's raising little Arthur, growing another tiny human, and somehow still manages to do it all with grace. Add in being an amazing wife to Mike, and it's pretty clear she's a force to be reckoned with.

Beyond being wonderful clients, Mike and Tynika Harvey are people I'm proud to call friends and neighbours, which makes sessions like this even more special.

And speaking of special... tomorrow is a big day!

Happy Birthday, Arthur!!!!! 🎉🎂

I hope your day is filled with cake, laughter, adventures, and all your favourite things. I can't wait to watch you step into your new role as big brother.

Yesterday evening was one of those sessions that reminded me that good things are worth waiting for.

After a day of pouring rain, the skies finally cleared just in time for us to capture this beautiful engagement session. Between illness, weather, and a few reschedules, we had been trying to make this happen for what felt like forever; and it was absolutely worth the wait!

These two are tying the knot in July, and they are such a joy to work with. Easygoing, full of laughter, and completely smitten with one another. The kind of couple that makes my job feel effortless!

To top off a perfect evening, we finished the session with ice cream from Ritchies Ice Cream and BBQ.

Beautiful overcast skies, sweet treats, and a wonderful couple — I'd call that a pretty perfect night.

I can't wait to celebrate with them on their wedding day next month!

The 13th Day of June, in the Year of Our Lord 2026

Well, dear friends, it would appear we have once again found ourselves upon the road to the infirmary.

Young Master James was conveyed to the hospital at the tenth hour of the morning and did not make his return until half past six in the evening. Following many hours of waiting, a portrait of his chest obtained through modern wizardry, and much consultation with learned physicians, it was determined that the poor lad is suffering from pneumonia.

He hath now been equipped with an inhaler, antibiotics and instructions for rest and recovery.

The greatest tragedy of the day, however, according to Master James, was not the pneumonia itself.

You see, he had been under the firm impression that he and his father were bound for the workshop, where important matters involving tools, machinery, and general boyhood business were to be conducted. Imagine his outrage upon discovering that the carriage was instead headed toward the hospital.

The betrayal was profound.

I daresay he would like it formally recorded in the family ledger that he did not consent to exchanging a day at the shop for a day spent amongst physicians.

At present, we are home once more. The boy is resting, the inhaler is at the ready, antibiotics ingested; and I find myself once again asking the Good Lord if perhaps our family has fulfilled its annual quota of adventures for the foreseeable future.

Prayers, positive thoughts, and perhaps a strong tonic for his weary father would be greatly appreciated.

Lord help us, for this child still believes the true injustice of the day was missing out on shop time with Dad

We truly have no words… only gratitude.

When we shared that we were hoping to raise funds for a Roger On device for James to use at home, we never expected to wake up to random donations already coming in. To every person who has donated, shared our post, sent an encouraging message, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines — thank you.

As parents, all we want is to give James every opportunity to succeed and to help make the world around him a little easier to hear. Knowing that so many people care about our little boy and want to help him on that journey is incredibly humbling.

The kindness and generosity we’ve experienced over the last 24 hours has left us overwhelmed in the best possible way. Every dollar, every share, and every kind word brings us one step closer to giving James a tool that will help him connect more clearly with the people he loves at home.

📣 Helping James Hear the World a Little More Clearly 💙

This little device is called a Phonak Roger On iii!!

To most people, it looks like a microphone. To James, it can be a game changer.

James experiences auditory challenges and is still speech delayed.

In environments with background noise, it can be difficult for him to filter out distractions and focus on the voices that matter. The Roger On helps by picking up a speaker's voice and transmitting it directly to his hearing technology, making speech clearer and easier to understand.

He currently has access to one at school, and we've seen firsthand how much it helps him. Unfortunately, he doesn't have one for home, where family gatherings, activities, public places, sports and even everyday conversations can be just as challenging.

The downside? These devices are incredibly expensive ----- like really really expensive.

As many of you know, I'm not very good at asking for help, but I'm willing to try if it means giving James every opportunity to succeed.

📸 Over the next few days, I'll be launching a raffle to help raise funds toward purchasing a Roger On for home use!

One lucky winner will receive a photography session with me, and all proceeds from the raffle tickets will go directly toward helping James get the equipment he needs.
