Nobody quite prepares you for St. John’s.

Every street has a story, and every meal feels like home. Between the incredible views, colourful neighbourhoods, and some of the best local restaurants I’ve experienced, it’s a city that’s impossible not to appreciate.

Visiting during the height of summer made it even better. The streets were alive with music, festivals, and a welcoming energy that perfectly reflects the heart and spirit of Newfoundland. I arrived excited to explore, and left already looking forward to the day I return.

This duck wandered across the boardwalk in Gander without a care in the world, reminding me that nature doesn’t have to be rare to be remarkable. The intricate patterns in its feathers, the flash of blue on its wing, and its calm presence are all small details that are easy to overlook.

The animal world has a way of slowing us down. It reminds us that beauty isn’t always loud—it often exists in the simplest moments, if we’re willing to notice.
