🐾We had to make a difficult decision yesterday that resulted in returning the pup to the SPCA. 😞After Isla passed in January, it was hard on all of us, including Charlie who was always used to living with other dogs. He was mopey, as he grieved too. We figured he's still a young dog and needs a friend. He has his 8 month old brother, Sonny, who is great, but he's an indoor cat, so there's no playing outside with them. Charlie is a very sweet and gentle guy, so we thought getting a puppy would be best for him. A puppy would grow and become part of our family and Charlie's buddy. I was fearful of an adult dog that was bigger than him that might hurt him. Not saying this is every case, just me being overprotective of him.
After weeks of self-doubt and careful observation, and after talking with a few others who had important insights, we decided it was best for everyone to let her go while she was still young enough to find the right fit for her. She's a beautiful extremely intelligent dog, but not right for our family.
It’s tough and disappointing, but I believe we made the right choice. We have two small pets to think about when considering any new addition.
I think Charlie would like another dog with a similar energy to his for our beach trips and playing in the yard. It's a bit of a wound right now, but I'd like to think we can still find the perfect addition to our family, like Charlie was when he came to live with us and Isla.
