This Monday we felt the rain, we felt the warm winds on a mountain top, and we felt all the gushing happy tears from the best crew who came to celebrate for this heartfelt Parksville Elopement. They actually made it official in the morning in their living room, so they could have their bff Sarah officiate for them for the best ceremony here with their guests.

Island Iconic Views
One of the best things about being a photographer is getting to explore and share in some of the most beautiful places across vancouver island with my clients.

During the summer a lot of vacationing families want to take home a piece of their island vacation with a family photo session, and we look for the best locations to fit the family dynamic and travel plans.

I used to love landscape photography, but even better now is bringing people into the landscape and making these special places memorable by being in the landscape views.

Here's a few tourism hot spots and favourite locations that bring out the feeling of adventure with family photos.

Local farms are very important to our community and I am always a big supporter in every way that I can.

When we moved here from Vancouver, I wanted to be a flower farmer myself, but quickly learned that it requires a lot more than just planting things all over the yard and winging it, and that I have no time for gardening during the peak summer season of photography.

Instead of growing much on my own, I take the opportunity to find flowers from the local growers for my sessions at every opportunity, including for mini weddings and surprise proposals like the one last night.

Shout out to Lantzville Flowers for the beautiful local blooms for yesterday's surprise proposal! You should definitely visit their farmstand on Peterson Road and peek at the lovely fields of blossoms in the background too.

I can't say enough about how sweet and fun these two are, what a beautiful wedding day!

Sharing so many smiles and endless love.
Their friends and family snuck away to decorate their truck while we were frollicking in the flower fields.

These two couldn't let go of each other all day they were just loving every minute of their wedding, and every second spent together. The look he gives her every time, so sweet!

This mini wedding had all the feelings and the most incredibly hot sunny weather for April, almost 30 degrees!

We started the moments greeted by horses and goats and the gates and we set up for the day and then spent hours in the flowers, just dreamy!

This special venue Cedarlea Farms has started offering mini weddings as partners with me, where I get to help wedding coordinate and photograph the beautiful moments.
Cedarlea offers the best low key energy, a unique rustic and floral background with so many backgrounds and beautiful views. Even the owner's home is picture perfect and one of a kind.

When you come for a one of a kind vacation on the west coast with your forever bff, it's a great time to plan something special and memorable.

Congrats to R&A on this big surprise during their vacation to the island. I hope all of your family back home is super excited about the news.

Today we celebrate with smiles, as I just got my braces off, woot!
I threw together an impromptu photo session in our backyard to celebrate.

I bought these dresses a couple months ago and the weather and time just never lined up to get cherry blossom photos with my littles.
But our backyard has reached it's best season and these colourful roses are truly the size of my head!

I try to take a couple photos every day of my little ones, but it's harder than you would think unless the camera is handy in the room during the right moments.
Planning the details for an enhanced photo session is even harder and i rarely have outfits ready or time to do my hair.

The other trick is doing all this prep, hoping to bribe the kids into cooperating, and then trying to do it all with the remote control app on my phone. Next level selfies, it takes a lot of trial and error.

If you are out there with your family, having fun, use that camera timer built into your phone and get the shot!
Any photos, even the outtakes, are better than months going by without jumping in there for photos with your littles.

Family vacation season has arrived, and the traffic at Cathedral Grove yesterday looks like a sign of a very busy season this year!
If you are coming for a west coast adventure with your family, I would love to see you. Let's line up your summer session now, August weekends are already almost full, July has a little bit left.

We will be on Gabriola Island for much of the summer so there are no travel fees if you want to join me for a session over there for some new scenery and a fun adventure day.

Volunteers gather year-round to help care for our growing spaces, and there’s always something to do — mulching, digging, composting, weeding, harvesting, watering, and more.

No gardening experience needed — there’s something for every skill level and ability. 💚

The thing about mini weddings and elopements.

They are sweetly intimate, emotional and yet so peaceful and easy going.
It's just you two in your perfect spot
With a handful of your family and friends sharing this hour, this day that is everything you've been waiting for.

And with these elopements I know the quiet, beautiful moments are so thrilling for couples to share. Out in nature, taking in breathtaking beauty, remembering exactly how you feel, how THIS moment feels in every way.
The wind. The goosebumps. The Joy and teary eyes when you look at each other.

Keighley and Matt said "I Do!" on the edge of the ocean, blown away with the early spring wind, but keeping warm with their excitement.

After this sweet ceremony, we moved to their other favourite beach to capture the dreamy black rock coastal photos they were envisioning.

And to cap off the day, they weren't telling anyone quite yet about this special wedding. They were boarding a plane to jet off to a two week honeymoon together, and taking more bride and groom photos on their honeymoon too.
A two week celebration, and then they came home to share their news.
Love everything about this.
