I remember Obi hittin us up for this and it was such a great experience! Being able to see different photographers guide their models and learn how they're able to elevate their shots by doing so was really insightful! Even if the model is amazing at what they do (like Amalia), the photographer still needs to do their part :)) (smt I still need to work on xD) Also, speaking of Obi, he stopped photog/video and started a new path and he told me he's doing well 🙏♥️ - it's also why I can't tag him cuz he deactivated his account 😅

A while back, I was talking to my good friend Kyla about posting personal work during the heat of the BLM on IG. Many didn't, to avoid turning the attention away from the movement, which is a good point. However, another way to look at it (Kyla's POV) is to keep our own lives moving forward (aka sharing our work as creatives) while still supporting good causes. "Because you can help more people if you help yourself and are in the best state of mind yourself". -

So here's a lil smt I made while being inspired by 's NEON MV. Pic was taken during a late roadtrip, and I distorted the image + added the spinning star trail effect through Photoshop. 2nd slide is a different placement for the word "neon, 3rd is without graphic fx, 4th is star image, 5th is RAW. Hope yall like it 💜💜💜

Y'all have heard it countless times, but I'll say it AGAIN. It's important to educate ourselves on the situation (esp non-black people cuz we haven't experienced what they have), to spread awareness about it, and to take action. It all starts at home with your family and close friends, and inside your own heart as well. I'm not gonna hide it; I'm guilty of being "non-racist" in the past, to have overlooked incidents of racism (towards any ethnicity, whether it'd be asian, black, etc) because I didn't wanna get hurt too, because I didn't wanna get in trouble too. I chose an ignorant life, far away from the news cuz I hated hearing negative things all the time. But that s**t was wrong. I was wrong, and I was part of the problem. I am ashamed that it took THIS particular situation to "wake me up". Ashamed that I wasn't fighting for this cause earlier.

But now I am. I've been listening to other people's view and opinion on this, been reading articles on it to see what happened now and in the past, and been watching videos bout it too. I still got a long way to go, like many of us do, but it's a start. So I encourage everyone, no matter how big or small your platform, to USE IT! Share what you see/what you read so others can learn more too. Take it a step further and donate if you have the means to! (Speaking of which, I'm willing to match your donation if you wish to donate more but can only give a lil - s/o to for the idea) Not only that, but encourage others to do so too! (Special s/o to for this, loved what she did) And ofc, in-person support by showing up to the protest (june 7th!! Safety first tho, so if you can't go because you live with your grandparents like me or some other reason, then stay home, theres no shame in that)
