To the person saying : "I know you were born here, but..." I don't need a reminder of who I am or what I am. I don't need a reminder that you see me different from others.
To my future kids, if they get to exist : You will be different. You will look different. I wish things would have changed by then so you can feel yourself.
My parents were born elsewhere. I was born here. I eat empanadas and poutine. I cannot take the "there" and the "here" separately because my education included both at the same time. To the teen who screamed at me from the moving car "retourne dans ton pays", I guess your education might have been troubled.
To the intolerant people. The best you could do is to admit you don't understand different people. You cannot hate who they are. You cannot be against what they feel. If you don't understand genderqueer people and gender fluidity, don't hate. Being against LGBTQ+ people is still unconceivable to me today.
I am tired of masking, of people making fun of my last name, of "nice non-racist" people letting out a single "accidental" racist comment right in front of me. If it's a joke, be funny or know your public.
Aux efforts de la francisation, ça faisait longtemps que je n'avais pas entendu un discours aussi xénophobe.
To the Intolerent person, I don't understand you.
Slay or sashay away.
