South of Abernethy and north of Sintaluta in the Qu'appelle Valley Katepwa is west, and Ellisboro is east of this area! The winding Qu'appelle River in the distance! Named after the Rein family. The scenery offers panoramic views of the valley's rolling hills, open pastures, and distinctive prairie landscape!

Warning: This video may cause you to relax! Another flight from last Thursday! This is at Pasqua Lake and Echo Lake, the view from the sky was incredible. The Qu'Appelle River flows out of the eastern end of Pasqua Lake and directly into Echo Lake via the narrow channel at Sioux Crossing. This meeting point is located right at Echo Valley Provincial Park, which sits on the narrow strip of land, separating the two lakes, about 8 kilometres west of Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan along Highway 210.

It was another beautiful drive this past Thursday near Pasqua and Echo Lake, in the Qu'appelle Valley! You can see Mission Lake and a touch of Katepwa Lakes in the distance if you zoom right in! For thousands of years, the lakes and surrounding coulees provided shelter, fish, and wildlife for Indigenous peoples. Pasqua Lake: Named after Chief Joseph Pasqua of the Pasqua First Nation, whose community and reserve lands lie near the lake. Echo Lake: Named for the distinct sound bouncing off the valley hills, which First Nations paddlers historically heard while canoeing on the water.

Videoed yesterday August 13th, 2026! "Hidden Valley" is located eight kilometres east of Craven, Saskatchewan in the Qu'appelle Valley It covers over three hundred acres and is owned by Nature Regina. Hiking, educational studies, photography, and observing wildlife are the primary purposes of this protected space. 'The terrain includes grassland, hills, woods, and coulees. . There are a couple paths up the hills which total about five kilometres. Although short, the trails do climb a couple hundred feet providing a great workout. (Information from the internet)

I love learning the history of older hotels, and the Granite Hotel in Grenfell, Saskatchewan has some interesting history! The Granite Hotel dates back to the late 19th century. It is most famous for an old local myth involving U.S President Theodore Roosevelt.
Key Historical Milestones 1887: Robert A. Copeland and W.H. Fleming bought the hotel. Local lore says they paid for it using two yoke of oxen, • 1901: A famous local legend states U.S President Theodore Roosevelt stayed at the hotel on December 14, 1901 • The Famous Register Hoax: The hotel's guest book featured the signatures of "Theo Roosevelt" and prominent figures like James J. Hilland U.S. Grant Jr. Historians later proved this a hoax, as Roosevelt was busy in Washington addressing Congress at that exact time.
1905: David Black purchased the hotel from Copeland for $38,000 in cash, boosted in part by the prestige of the Roosevelt myth. ( Information from the internet)

A video of the beautiful outside landscape at the Grenfell Museum! The Adare House is beautiful and I hope to see the inside before the end of the month! The Museum is open every Saturday and Sunday July 1 until Aug 30, 2-5 pm.
Adare House is a Municipal Heritage Property in the Town of Grenfell, Saskatchewan. The property features a 2 1/2-storey wood-frame Queen Anne Revival style residence constructed in 1904. The building is surrounded by a large landscaped lawn on a corner lot. The heritage value of the Adare House lies in its association with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fitz-Gerald. An important early citizen in the community, Mr. Fitz- Gerald was a businessman, postmaster, newspaper publisher and founder of Grenfell's first publicly: accessible library. Constructed in 1904, the Adare House was not just the family's residence but also a showcase of the many types of lumber sold in the Fitz- Gerald lumberyard. The large landscaped lawn surrounding the house enhanced the prominence of the property within the community. (Information from the internet)
