Canada Day can be more than fireworks and flags. 🍁

It can be a day to pause, learn, and appreciate the land we get to call home.

Long before Canada became Canada, this land was home to Indigenous Peoples with rich cultures, languages, communities, and histories that continue today.

I spend a lot of time talking about homes, neighbourhoods, and community. But today feels like a good reminder that “home” carries a deeper meaning.

So today, I’m choosing gratitude, reflection, and respect.
For the land.
For the people who cared for it first.
For the communities we are still building together.

Fishing my drone out of a tree......that's what I was doing Saturday.

My handheld kept giving me high wind warnings, beeping at me, being annoying.

I kept thinking "no no this is fine. I got this. I'm getting such great footage! I can't stop it yet, it's so beautiful out!"

Welp......the wind warning was right. Right as I'm getting a wicked panned shot a big ol' gust took my drone on a lil adventure.

Luckily, I was able to get it out of the tree, find it after I of course dropped it out of the net, and find out it still works perfectly! Huzzah!

Next time I'm going to listen to the wind warnings.............and try (big emphasis on try) to be less stubborn about wanting to get the shot!
