Last week, the Guelph Organic Conference took over the Guelph Farmers’ Market 🌿

From the buzz of the trade show floor to thoughtful workshop moments and seriously good organic food + drink, it was a joy to document the people and energy behind Ontario’s organic community. Farmers, educators, researchers, and changemakers all in one place—connected by good soil, good food, and shared values.

Norfolk County Fair- Crop and Horticulture Competition 🌽🎃

Growers from across Norfolk County bring their best to the fair — spotless veggies, shiny fruit, perfect corn rows, even giant pumpkins and towering cornstalks! What a fun way to celebrate the fall harvest and all the hard work behind it. 🍂🏆

Norfolk County Fair- Heavy Horse Show 🐴🏆

I grew up spending weekends showing draft horses — ours were Percherons, the black ones. You’ll also see Belgians (gold) and Clydesdales (brown and white) in the ring. The three breeds are also known as heavy horses, you’ll understsd if you’ve ever been stepped on by one. These photos are from the 4- and 6-horse hitches. Being beside the ring was a beautiful reminder of where it all began!

Norfolk County Fair- Midway 🎡🍿

I grew up spending nearly every day during fair season here, so the midway feels like home. The rides may change, but I’ll always love the merry-go-round. 🎠

Norfolk County Fair — Livestock 🐓🐑

Over 100,000 visitors attend the Norfolk County Fair each year — the largest fall fair in Ontario! The event hosts countless competitions and showcases, including livestock judging. Animals such as chickens, ducks, pigeons, and rabbits are evaluated on how well they meet their breed standards. Visitors can also meet larger livestock like sheep and alpacas throughout the fairgrounds. 🎡

This is the first time in years I’ve been back to the fair I grew up attending, and I can’t wait to share more from this mini series!

Seven years ago, I left Norfolk County — actively running away from agriculture. I knew I didn’t want to be a farmer, so I left.

After a few stumbles, I found my way back to this incredible industry. Today, I’m proud to play a small part in such a vital sector for Ontario. Agriculture is deeply rooted in who I am, and I couldn’t be happier to be capturing the people and moments that make our agri-food community so special.

I’m grateful to share these stories and to thank the farmers whose hands and hearts keep Ontario growing. Wishing everyone a happy harvest. 🍂🌾

Canada's Outdoor Farm Show is the country’s largest agricultural showcase, held every September in Woodstock, Ontario. 🐄🌾

The three-day event brings together farmers, researchers, and agri-businesses to explore the latest in equipment, technology, livestock, and crop innovations. Visitors can watch live field demonstrations, walk through crop plots, and connect directly with the people and companies shaping the future of farming.

It’s a one-stop event where agriculture meets innovation, and where the industry comes together to share knowledge and ideas. I enjoyed exploring the show, connecting with people in the industry, and capturing it all through my lens. 📸
