A Dad's Adventures

A Dad's Adventures A Canadian Dad on Vancouver Island sharing his experiences navigating the digital world with 3 kids.

I'm a husband and dad of 3 who are currently under the age of 6. These are my adventures with the kids as they grow up in this digital world, unlike the world I grew up in. I spotlight places we've been, things we've done and gadgets that help make my wife and mine's daily parenting jobs easier.

Did you know the practice before their airshow season here in the Comox Valley? They are here between April and May and practice up to 3 times a week every week (except Sundays and weather permitting).

There are many places to see them but the best is Airforce Beach ($5 day pass or $35 annual pass for residents).

Have you seen them? Here in the Comox Valley or at on of their many Airshow locations throughout the summer?

We finally made it out to the Eternal Fountain on northern Vancouver Island today. A quiet karst spring tucked away in the forest near Port Alice.

Full story and photos here:

One of the things we have wanted to do since moving to Vancouver Island is to find hidden gems, or perhaps not so hidden these days, but places we have not been to yet. Our most recent adventure took us to the Eternal Fountain, a

Here is a selection of images I took while we were guests of at their Black Creek event here in the Comox Valley.

The mix of performers was entertaining and everyone in the Big Top enjoyed the show!

A small selection of the photos I took while with Wild Waterways Adventures this past weekend as they started their Herring Season tours.

California Sealions, Stellar Sealions, Bald Eagles, and even T049A3 and crew showed up during our 4-hour tour out.

If you haven't done so, I highly recommend checking out the Herring Spawn from the water. I missed it this time, but the colour the past couple days is just popping!

If you live on Vancouver Island and have access to getting to the ocean shoreline, I would highly recommend checking out the various chat groups of for your area. With the help of the various communities you can potentially get the opportunity to see Orcas from the shoreline!

I would also recommend a decent pair of binoculars at least as viewing them from shore isn’t always a close encounter.

These few shots are cropped from images I took at 600mm.
