Four images created across the span of four years, tied together with one visual language. The images selected for Hansen’s British Vogue feature were photographed from 2022- 2026, following the rebrand of Hansen. At the time of their creation, Vogue wasn’t even on our horizon. We were focused on creating an ongoing visual direction for Hansen.
From the beginning, my approach has been highly intentional: refined lighting, a restrained and recognizable colour palette, horses and locations selected to speak to the Hansen narrative, and a focus on the details that communicate quality almost subconsciously.
As Creative Director and Photographer, my role has been to ensure that each image contributes to the larger world of Hansen. The work needs to be more than just beautiful photographs, it needs to contribute to an instantly recognizable point of view.
One of the benefits of working with a brand over such a long period of time is that I develop a deep understanding of the brand story, positioning, the customer, and ultimately the narrative I want to share. Originally brought on to craft the new visual direction of Hansen in the rebrand, my work has been integral to the development of the visual identity of the brand. Being so immersed in the world of Hansen made the transition to Creative Director a natural progression.
When it came time to select imagery for a campaign introducing Hansen to a new audience, we already had something incredibly valuable: a body of varied, cohesive work that felt unmistakably Hansen. With such a short turnaround for deliverables, photographing new images for this campaign wouldn’t have been feasible. Because we had built out this library of brand-centric work from the beginning, the images didn’t need to be made for the campaign. We felt confident and ready for this opportunity with what we had. This is one of the benefits to consistently working with one professional who consistently maintains a brand’s photography - the work speaks together fluently.
That is one aspect of creative direction that I love most; consistency over time creates a visual identity strong enough to transcend the individual shoot, season, or campaign.
