I want to talk about BANSKY! This painting hit my HEART ❤️🩹 SO HARD! I lived in London, England! 🏴 37 Years Ago I married my Ethnic Husband in Ealing, London. We were married in Vernon and Wendy Nesbeth’s home. This Painting protrays a Black Judge, BEATING DOWN HIS YOUNGER SELF! The younger self who FOUGHT FOR FREEDOM , TRUTH, JUSTICE and the RIGHTS OF OTHERS!
The world is NOT understanding this! He is beating his younger self, FULL OF RIGHTEOUSNESS! Killing his wise, younger version of who HE IS!!! Democracy has been More Than Comfortably Numb!!!! It has altered our awareness of truth, justice and civility!
Richie was one of the Artists that formed the Music Group, The Southlanders! Vernon Nesbeth was their creator. An immigrant from Jamaica 🇯🇲! He married a Showgirl! She was the Talk of the Town! Wendy Nesbeth! The most Glamorous Woman I have Ever Met! Vernon told me stories of how people hung signs, saying “No Blacks Allowed!” When looking for lodging or a warm meal, etc. It was hard for so many who came from the Caribbean. They were called, Southlanders! They were outcasts, hated and shunned at first, and then this music group did rise, even to Top of The Pops!
Vernon was married to a Caucasian Show Girl of Persian Lineage. Many West End London Clubs did not allow people of colour into them! Wendy would sneak him in the back door. Vernon was the first black man ever allowed into these “High Class Clubs!”
They fought hard as Southlanders, for rights and then EQUAL RIGHTS! While inspiring and changing the music scene, they gave other Southlanders hope and encouragement to keep on going! Keep on rising above diversity!
This painting breaks my heart 💔 to think that a community of people could TURN ON THEMSELVES after fighting and surviving SUCH GREAT EVIL! I am broken and profoundly moved. What would Uncle Micheal Gilkes have to say?!! I would expect he would write an entire manuscript and a grand performance around it!!!
What Have They Done?!!!!
