Braided Together is going to be playing at the 2022 imagineNATIVE Film Festival ( ) this year on Wednesday, October 19th at 3:15pm during Program 2 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. You have to buy tickets if you want to come see it in person! Otherwise for those unable to come in person, you can still buy virtual tickets! Link to tickets is in my bio. This was an amazing cast and crew that came together and such a special process. I am so honoured to be able to have it be a part of the festivals it’s been in. We’re trying to get a huge crowd out to come see it, so Toronto friends pull through!!

Also if you didn’t hear, Braided Together won the Audience Choice Award at and had a screening at the !

So happy we’re finally under way on this!!
productions and the Creative Sovereignty Lab are kicking off a week in Thunder Bay for the short film “Braided Together” 🎥 🎞

The CSL brings together up and coming members of the local Thunder Bay film community into workshop spaces to learn about filmmaking, Indigenous approaches to storytelling, and reimagining on-set dynamics, often rooted in extractive and colonial frameworks. The Lab employs an inclusive, community-based approach that is actively learning about on-set accompaniment and equity-based filmmaking practices.

We are committed to a process-oriented and justice-based approach marked by inclusivity, diversity and joyfulness.

During the production days, CSL participants will mentor with key crew roles as we all collaborate on the shoot.

One year ago today we launched the film “Glimpses into the Spirit of Gender Equality” at the UN 65th Commission on the Status of Women, and since then the film was selected to 7 international film festivals and won 4 awards!

We are very happy to see the positive reception this documentary has had. It has been screened at international, national, educational and grassroots gatherings around the world, and has sparked vibrant conversation about the progress of gender equality and the ways we can embody this principle in our own personal lives and the life of society.

Around the world the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have fallen particularly hard on women and girls - the “shadow pandemic” of increased domestic and gender-based violence, the gendered economic impacts such as overrepresentation in frontline services and reduced access to social protections, and the expanded unpaid care work including childcare, homeschooling, and care for the sick and elderly - have meant that consulting about the dynamics of gender equality in society has never been more important.

So much gratitude to the team of people who put their hearts and sweat into this timely and hopeful feature film which is not only an important contribution to the world, but also a work of art!

Ya’ll, .friedmann and I started .productions one year ago today! 🥳 It seems crazy to say that because the last 12 months flew by, and yet, so much has happened.
- We got development funds for two feature projects (a drama and a doc)
- We won awards for documentaries we helped make
- We got content licensed to streaming services
- We got a business credit card!
We’ve also had many other ups and downs, but hey… that’s how it goes sometimes.

Over the past year so many people have collaborated with us, supported us, worked with and for us, consulted with us, and because of that both our ability to produce our own content as well as navigate the very challenging film industry has dramatically increased.

Although we continue to look onwards and upwards, it is a tremendous blessing to be able to look back and see the many ways this little company has been successful thus far.

To celebrate this humble achievement of owning a business and being in charge of our own creative destiny, we wanted to share photos from recent history that show some places we’ve been and people we’ve been grateful to work with.

I’d also like to mention that we thought it was a good time to launch the official account for .productions You can continue to follow along in our adventures as we make content that (hopefully) you love!
