2016 🥰
Time is warped because how was this only a few years ago and yet the photos are a decade old? 😅
2016 was one of my favourite years in business. It was my most travelled year.
The highlight was traveling to Italy with Marco to photograph a wedding! We spent 10 days traveling around the wedding day and it was incredible!
I got to be a guest at two weddings! One in Santa Barbara and one was a close family friend’s wedding.
I got to photograph my cousins wedding ♥️
I travelled to Montana for a wedding and a visit.
We took a family trip to Banff for Canada day and Marco and I did a couples trip through Jasper and did Athabasca Glacier with a few engagement sessions sprinkled in.
It was the year I hired my first full time second shooter, Ash!
I saw the Northern Lights for the first time at 1am at a wedding in Clinton, BC.
My brother in law got married and Marco and the kids were in the wedding party.
I got to photograph so many of my closest friends ♥️
Personally - I caught my first sturgeon (7.5 feet!), travelled 13 hours round trip in one day to help release 750 baby sturgeon with my best friend Jess while she worked for Freshwater Fisheries, I went ice fishing for the first time and saw Finding Dory in theatres with Jess and our kids!
My business has intentionally slowed down since then. I’m grateful for these earlier years of business building that have allowed me to slow down and focus on other areas of my life while still photographing incredible couples and families.
My kids are now teenagers (my daughter is almost there 😬🥹) and involved in high level sports, I started a second career in Clinical Counselling, and I’ve learned it’s ok to say no to things that don’t fill my bucket. My 2016 life looked pretty fabulous on social media. But it was also a time when I was struggling most with my mental health and body image.
Reflecting on 10 years ago really reinforces that social media truly is a highlight reel. But at the same time, it also allows my memories to focus on the positive. Looking back through the photos, I remembered all the good/sentimental times first which really is my purpose of photos ♥️
