Felene M. Cayetano is a Belizean, Garifuna, librarian, mother, visual and literary storyteller. She attained a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Baltimore, then a master’s degree in Information and Library Science from Pratt Institute. As the Principal Librarian responsible for Institutional Development within the Belize National Library Service and Information System, she uses her 19 years of library management experience to ensure equitable access to knowledge across Belize. Her poetry, fiction and nonfiction works appear in three poetry collections, multiple Caribbean and Latin American anthologies and journals. Felene is also an exhibited photographer and filmmaker who has written, produced and directed two narrative short films. Across multiple artforms, she tells stories about her Garifuna heritage while centering the expansive nature of womanhood.
