Plating / Le dressage
📍 Stora Saluhallen, Gothenburg

Seen from behind, the cook leans over his counter in the thick of service.
Chrome lamps and glasses catch the light, the whole market hall stacking up behind him.
You're in the aisle, watching him work, careful not to get in the way.

De dos, le cuisinier s'avance sur son comptoir au plein milieu du service.
Les lampes chromées et les verres accrochent la lumière, la halle entière s'étageant derrière lui.
On est dans l'allée, on le regarde travailler, sans déranger.

Silhouettes of Labour / Silhouettes de scène
📍 Place des Palais, Brussels

Three performers cut to black against the burning haze of the backlight.
The rig hangs over them like a harrow; the bodies carve the stage, the light writes the rest.
Grabbed from the wings mid-concert — the show, seen from the other side of the spotlights.

Trois artistes découpés en ombre contre la brume incendiée du contre-jour.
Le rig pèse au-dessus d'eux comme une herse ; les corps taillent la scène, la lumière écrit le reste.
Grabbé de l'aile en plein concert — le show, vu de l'autre côté des projecteurs.

Work in the Open / Le travail au grand air
📍 Skansen, Stockholm, Sweden

A woodcarver bent over his piece, alone in the light coming through the trees.
The frame closes in on the gesture — the hands, the tool, the bench.
The leaves keep the memory of a stolen glance, but it's the making that fills the picture.

Un sculpteur sur bois penché sur son ouvrage, seul dans la lumière entre les arbres.
Le cadre se resserre sur le geste — les mains, l'outil, l'établi.
Le feuillage garde le souvenir du regard volé, mais c'est le faire qui occupe l'image.

Behind the Counter / Derrière le comptoir
📍 Perugia, Italy

A woman in a red apron, alone behind her counter, waiting for the next customer.
The shop glass softens the colours until they look almost worn.
Nothing is happening here, and that's the thing, most of a working day looks exactly like this.

Une femme en tablier rouge, seule derrière son comptoir, à attendre le prochain client.
La vitre adoucit les couleurs au point de les rendre presque passées.
Il ne se passe rien, et c'est justement ça, une journée de travail, c'est surtout ça.

Through the Gap / Par la fente
📍 Skansen, Stockholm, Sweden

The eye slips through a slit in the planks and steals the scene.
Foreground: the sharp headscarf. Behind: the knitter dissolved in the cabin's dusk.
You watch without entering, without being seen, the distance becomes the subject.

Le regard se glisse par une fente dans le bois et vole la scène.
Au premier plan le foulard net ; au fond, la tricoteuse fondue dans la pénombre.
On observe sans entrer, sans être vu, la distance devient le sujet.

The Gesture of Care / Le geste du soin
📍 Stockholm, Sweden

Camo bandana, grey beard bent to the machine, the agent cleans the train.
The invisible trade that keeps the metro standing.
Caught in profile, absorbed, unaware: an ordinary gesture, treated with full dignity.

Bandana camo, barbe grise inclinée sur la machine, l'agent nettoie la rame.
Le métier invisible qui tient le métro debout.
Saisi de profil, absorbé, à son insu : un geste ordinaire, traité de plein droit.

The Butcher in Pink / Le boucher en rose
📍 Rieti, Italy

The butcher stands on his threshold, still, his gaze elsewhere.
Behind him the pink shopfront sets the meat aglow.
Ochre wall, white coat, rose light, three colours in quiet conversation.

Le boucher se tient sur le seuil, immobile, le regard ailleurs.
Derrière lui la vitrine rose irradie la viande.
Ocre, blouse blanche, lumière rose, trois couleurs qui se répondent.

Among the Tools / Parmi les outils
📍 Skansen, Stockholm, Sweden

Window light, workshop lamps, a plank still in progress.
He doesn't pose, he works, bent over the wood.
The workshop is no backdrop; it's the body's extension.

Lumière de fenêtre, lampes d'atelier, une planche en cours.
Il ne pose pas, il travaille, penché sur le bois.
L'atelier n'est pas un décor : c'est le prolongement du corps.

Glass and Fire / Le verre et le feu

The cane held, the flame within reach.
The gesture stopped the instant before it tips.
One breath more, and the glass will move.

La canne tenue, la flamme à portée.
Le geste arrêté juste avant qu'il ne bascule.
Un souffle de plus, et le verre bougera.
