Matterhorn and Ober Gabelhorn from the north ridge of the Zinalrothorn.

The Brussels - Alps round trip by car represents more than 320 kg of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere, or 16% of the carbon budget to be reached per person over one year.

What if we standardized the fact of calculating and giving the carbon footprint of our trips and pictures?

L'aller-retour Bruxelles - Alpes en voiture représente plus de 320 kg de CO2 émis dans l'atmosphère, soit 16% du budget carbone à atteindre par personne sur une année.

Et si on normalisait le fait de calculer et donner l'empreinte carbone de nos déplacements et photos ?

La Dent-Blanche, 4357 mètres d'altitude, surnommée la "Monstrueuse coquette" par Guy de Maupassant dans Le Horla. C'est vrai que c'est une sacrée grande coquette !

The Dent-Blanche, 4357 meters above sea level, nicknamed the "Monstrous coquette" by Guy de Maupassant in Le Horla. It's true that she's a hell of a big coquette!

Départ matinal pour une loooooongue journée en montagne : visite au sommet du Zinalrothorn en passant par son arrête nord et descente par l'arrête sud ouest côté Zermatt. Derrière nous, la Dent-Blanche et l'Ober Gablehorn sont notre horizon, et ça en impose !

Early departure for a looooong day in the mountains: visit to the summit of the Zinalrothorn via its northern ridge and descent via the south-west ridge on the Zermatt side. Behind us, the Dent-Blanche and the Ober Gablehorn are our horizon, and it's impressive!

Après la Dent Blanche, voici son voisin, l'Ober Gabelhorn, toujours depuis le refuge du Grand Mountet. La vue depuis ce refuge niché au coeur de la Couronne Impériale est incroyable, a tel point que le célèbre guide français Armand Charlet aurait dit que "lorsque l'on arrive à Mountet, il faudrait se mettre à genoux". Il n'a pas tord !

After the Dent Blanche, here is its neighbour, the Ober Gabelhorn, still from the Grand Mountet refuge. The view from this refuge nestled in the heart of the Imperial Crown is incredible, so much so that the famous French guide Armand Charlet is said to have said that "when you arrive at Mountet, you have to get on your knees". He's not wrong!

La Dent Blanche depuis le refuge des Grands Muntets. A la base, cette montagne s'appelait la Dent d'Hérens, mais une erreur d'un moine copiste survenue au moyen-âge en a décidé autrement et les deux montagnes ont échangé leur noms !

The Dent Blanche from the Grands Muntets refuge. Originally, this mountain was called the Dent d'Hérens, but an error made by a copyist monk in the Middle Ages decided otherwise and the two mountains exchanged their names!
