Counter Foto, a leading institution in visual arts and photography education, is proud to present the exhibition ‘রক্তিম প্রবাহে, চিত্র-চেতনায় চব্বিশের গণঅভ্যুত্থান’.
‘রক্তিম প্রবাহে’ - চিত্র-চেতনায় চব্বিশের গণঅভ্যুত্থান' unfolds as a non-linear, rhizomatic odyssey through embodied experiences, deeply rooted in the transformative upheaval of the 2024 July-August Mass Uprising, as examined by the 7th batch of Counter Foto's two-year professional diploma program. These narratives intersect with the dominant structures of political ideology and the intersubjective terrain of collective consciousness.
The trajectory deconstructs a diversity of perspectives, exposing how previous regimes cultivated a climate ripe for genocide, while individuals navigated the bloodstained uprising from the liminal spaces of their homes. It interrogates the oscillating responses within virtual and mass media spheres, personal encounters that transmute into diaristic narratives, and the articulation of 5th August, the day the fascist leader was toppled. In this moment, the people collectively exhaled, celebrated, and roared in the reclamation of their long-suppressed freedom of expression. Simultaneously, it uncovers the enduring psychological scars borne from the rupture of violence, a trauma that continues to reverberate through time.
Ontologically, the trajectory offers a space for the reimagining of photography, deconstructing its multifaceted nature to conjure new civil imaginaries, grounded in the collective ethos of the uprising. It further envisions a future in which the state, beyond its repressive functions, serves the highest welfare of all individuals, regardless of gender, identity, or race, nurturing a surrounding founded on equality, justice, and human sovereignty.
Curated by Faysal Zaman, artistic researcher, this trajectory features the works of Md. Nusaer Bin Khaled (Nitol), Mohammad Sakiful Islam, Syed Samiul Islam Bishal, Nowrin Ansari, Najmul Haque Sagor, Sudiptto Paul, Tamanna Meherun, Khaza Moinuddin, and Syed Mehedy Hasan.
