Won 1st place in the Architecture & Design category (Professional Competition) at the 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 — one of the world’s most prestigious photography contests.

By the immense grace of GOD, I have achieved this honor. My photo story “Homes of Haor” has been selected as the winner among approximately 430,000 submissions from around the world in this internationally renowned and globally celebrated competition.

The award was officially announced on 16th April in London. Although I was invited as a guest to attend the ceremony, unfortunately, I couldn’t make it due to some unforeseen circumstances. As part of this recognition, Sony has awarded me an Alpha 7 V camera, a 24–70mm f/2.8 GM II lens, along with several other prizes. Additionally, my work was exhibited at Somerset House in London from April 17 to May 4.

Huge thanks to Creo, World Photography Organisation and Sony Corporation, along with Jury Chair and Exhibition Curator Monica Allende, for this unforgettable milestone. I’m also deeply grateful to the team at Sony - Electronics Bangladesh for personally handing over my prizes, with Joshua Quek (Country Head) and Karan Sum (Regional Marketing Head) present during that time.

This achievement is not mine alone — it belongs to my stories, my people, my land, my Bangladesh.

Grateful to the Almighty. My deepest respect and love to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. 😍

Successfully completed the fully funded journalism training program at ICIMOD (International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development) on Climate Change and Migration, held in Nepal from 1 to 3 July 2026.

The program brought together participants from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Pakistan, guided by expert trainers — journalists, climate specialists, researchers, academicians, photojournalists, and senior editors — fostering practical insights into climate storytelling. It was an amazing experience learning new methodologies, perspectives, and evidence through presentations, workshops, and panel discussions on ethical reporting, alongside opportunities for networking and cross-cultural exchange.

The training covered terminology and misconceptions around climate mobility, discussions on gender and intersectionality, hands-on sessions on visual storytelling beyond crisis imagery, media analysis, data journalism, and a story pitch lab followed by valuable editorial feedback. It pushed me to think more critically about the language we use, the data we cite, and the stories we choose to tell.

Beyond the sessions, what made this training truly special was the people. Hanging out with photojournalist Sunil Sharma dada was amazing, and I already miss Nafew, Arya, Cheena, Aisha, Momo, Sagor Vai, Ashish, Shalinee, Devika, Chencho, Shatakshi, Sai, Diwakar, Suraj, Anita, and the others. These conversations, shared meals, and evening walks in Patan are proof that good journalism is built on community as much as craft — grateful for every one of these connections and hope our paths cross again soon.

Huge thanks to ICIMOD and the SUCCESS project team for putting together such a thoughtfully designed program. I also got the chance to explore Nepal for a few days.

Looking forward to bringing these learnings into my ongoing work on climate migration and adaptation in the delta. 😍

After winning 1st Place in the Architecture & Design category (Professional Competition) at the Sony World Photography Awards, my series "Homes of Haor" was published in a three-page spread in The Observer, the world’s oldest British Sunday newspaper. I was also interviewed by climate editor Jeevan Vasagar about how rural communities design and adapt their built environment to a landscape defined by water.

This journey began in the wetlands of Bangladesh, and it has now traveled far beyond what I ever imagined. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has supported, believed in, and shared this work along the way. 📷

Grateful to see my photo series “Homes of Haor” featured in The Daily Star, after winning 1st place in the Architecture & Design category (Professional Competition) at the Sony World Photography Awards.

The article also highlights another talented Bangladeshi photographer among this year’s winners, making the recognition even more meaningful for the country’s photographic community.

Through this feature, the story of the Haor region — its water-bound homes, resilience, and way of life — reaches a broader audience. It’s an honour to have this work shared by one of Bangladesh’s leading English-language newspapers.
