Another step toward self trust and realisation. With lovelies, daughters Maya, Magdalene and Mum Robyn we left Woodend and ventured, like Hobbits leaving the shire on planes, trains and speedy autobahns; destination Poland (via Berlin, Rome, Milano, Tirano, Chur, Prague and Jelenia Gora).

After two weeks of weary travel we arriving at night, through dark woods and spooky forests to lodgings. Next day, to location scout the mostly undiscoverable. Yet a small, unmistakable signature of a toadstool on a wooden sign with an arrow pointing up a dirt path found us, somewhere between Wojciechów and Golejów in middle of the Izera Mountains in Poland.

Three inspiring days of creativity unfolding with Dżo Lama (DŻO LAMA), artist and master tattooist. Her studio a mongolian yurt, with charming black cat, cozy wood hearth and a gentle giant bear-like newfoundland swimming dog. Their charming little farm in natural harmony. Co-created with her equally talented husband Bartosz Jaworski (Bartosz Jaworski)and family, I experienced a warm blend of charm, hospitality, tranquility, home cooking and artistic creation.

I felt right at home. Aligned values, kindred botanical appreciation and with her refined aesthetic sensibility Joanna interpreted my abstract, meandering thoughts and then evolved a sublime personally resonate artwork.

Featuring two illustrious Owl Moths (transformation, rebirth, knowledge, intuition, vulnerability and earthy wisdom) with beautiful signature botanical motifs including ancient fern fronds that blend between light to dark as they would be seen through mottled forest light. And delicate floral touches; lattice for a climbing legume with open pea pod. One pea each, for my weary travel companions and I. ❤️🫛🌿 🦋

Did this really happen? I need only look to my left arm and affirm. Seeing a familiar content satisfaction on her face when finished on day three, we nodding with imaginative musing, and agreed. It’s both a work in progress as much as it’s a work complete. I look forward to returning and I will. 👏🍄🌿🛖

Some of you might be familiar with Annis & Bills horse troughs! This is a legacy of unique charm. This watering troughs for horses were donated by the trust setup after Bill’s passing, by his executor Mr & Mrs H.W. Crook who amassed an extraordinary foundation fund of £70,000 - £80,000 for the expeess purpose as set in Bill’s will to:

"...construct and erect and pay for horse troughs wherever they may be of the opinion that such horse troughs are desirable for the relief of horses and other dumb animals either in Australasia, in the British Islands or in any other part of the world subject to the consent of the proper authorities being obtained."

Prices with installation at £13 you do the math! All build and installs between 1930 and 1939 at a time when the automobile and mechanised tractor would have ‘retired’ the entire working horse industry. You have to think of these troughs as being the era’s service station! Because without, what farming could have been done?

Challenge me to give a better example of a an historical legacy to the agrarian way of life that establish the Australian food system!!

You can visit these all through Victoria an New South Wales but I can guarantee you a whole lifetime would need to travel their distribution.

Ready for day #2 with master tattooist who I can thankfully call part of my unique cohort of extraordinary allies in my affirmation journey. This three day process adds art, expression, symbolism and the embodied representation of my character, my metamorphosis and provide fuel to my life propulsion engine. To embody the spirit, defy the friction, reach pyschological escape velocity and fully self actualise.

Here. We. Go.

With my parenting and farm responsibilities, sometimes I just have to bust OUT and be totally impractical! A pure and absurd, cheeky indulgence I can’t resist once in a while. Whatever happens, I won’t regret it! 🖤🗝️🕷️🐦‍⬛🐈‍⬛🤵🏻‍♀️

Sorting though the items in my late father’s workshop. In amongst the tubs of rusty screws, endless wire brushes, strange specialty tools, his 14 year old school notebook from 1963. An odd collection of magazine cutouts depicting different farming scenes from around the world, to plans for a shoe polishing stand and then an article about novelty wood finishes.

I want to share more my life and experiences as a transgender woman + farmer + parent + maker of things + creator of landscapes + living things steward.

Only I’m not very enthusiastic about supporting zuck, elon, etc 🙄 and have seriously rationed the shares in recent times... and there is a lot to share… but it just feels a bit ‘off’ here 🤔

Yet maybe an alternative has been created? The new Upscrolled app claims to value that ‘every voice gets equal power’ with no algorithmic shenanigans and it’s chronological (remember that!) I quite like this! So if you’ve signed up too, I can be found on the app by searching for: florencesnaps

Might see you there! 👩🏻‍🌾🏳️‍⚧️🚜📸🌱

So I'm thinking I might settle on something like this. Campagnola Eco Plus 1500 – PTO compressor. Powered by the tractors PTO shaft, 5 release couplings, twin 20 litre air tanks. 1500 litres free air delivery – about 53 cubic feet per minute and up to 156psi or 11 bar of pressure during us.

Has multiple take offs, so you can load up a bunch of tractable air hoses that simultaneously serve different pneumatic tools, from air pruning secateurs, pruning telescoping chainsaws, post drivers, cleaning blowers tyre inflators, jack hammers,

Then back at the workshop, circular saws, jig saws, sanders, buffers, grinders, chain hoists, hydraulic over pneumatic, reciprocating tools, power hammers, pneumatic tuggers and jacks, rivet guns etc etc

Of course those are just possibilities, and I'm not interested in everything pneumatic, but for pleasant field work like fencing and forestry maintenance, this will be a beautiful thing.

I like fewer engines for less maintenance. Less breakdown, more enjoyment. Need a little forestry team now for this coming year. I lots to plant!

Oh my, I'm now obsessed with compressed air. Having fallen down the rabbit hole of PTO driven air compressors and all their possible farm applications, I'm positively geeking out 🤓 I attended a permaculture design course will Bill Mollison years back and I made a mental note about compressed air after he rattled on about it quite passionately. But through all my years of farming the long meandering path never returned to it. Yet now, it's as though the mental clutch suddenly took up and I can feel the full flow. I must have spent the last 7 hours reading in wonder and what and inspiration🤯This has been really healing for me so I just had to share.
