📣 Introducing Simon Marcollo!

🤩 We’re delighted to officially welcome Simon to The Little Brass Band family, joining us as a full‑time member in 2025 after stepping in as a valued guest on many occasions.

🎶 Since arriving in Ballarat in the early 1990s, Simon has been a familiar face across the city’s vibrant music scene. He has performed with many of Ballarat’s finest ensembles, including Seb Big Band, Ballarat Wind Orchestra, Ballarat Symphony Orchestra, Eureka Brass, and in the pit for numerous BLOC Music Theatre and Ballarat Lyric Theatre Inc. productions.

🎺 Simon is part of a proud multigenerational family of trumpeters - his dad and both of his sons also play!

📖 When he’s not performing, Simon can be found teaching English at Ballarat High School, where his love of language and learning inspires the next generation.

❤️ We’re thrilled to have Simon’s musicianship, warmth, and experience enriching our ensemble.

📣 Introducing Amanda Holley!

🤩 We are very lucky to have Amanda join The Little Brass Band on the tuba.

☀️ Amanda and her partner bravely relocated from Townsville to Ballarat at the end of 2024. From a weather perspective we think she's mad, but in all other aspects Queensland’s loss is our gain!

👩‍🏫 Amanda is the Head of Brass and Head of Bands at Ballarat Clarendon College, where she tutors in low brass, directs ensembles and teaches classroom music across the junior and middle school.

🎶 She’s also the Musical Director of Ballarat Memorial Concert Band. On top of that, she’s regularly called on to play bass trombone, euphonium, and tuba - basically, if it’s big and shiny, she’s on it.

🏋️‍♀️ Amanda enjoys spending time with her partner, weightlifting, playing video games and collecting Pokémon cards (her favourite is Snorlax)!

☕️ We’re thrilled to have Amanda on board. Make sure to say hi (and maybe offer her a warm drink… she’s still acclimatising).

As we get stuck into preparations for 2026 projects, we would like to share a little about us!
The Little Brass Band - an award‑winning brass quintet from the Goldfields region - brings a vibrant mix of musical styles to the stage, from traditional jazz and swing to classical favourites and everything in between.

Their sound is shaped by the rich harmonies and melodic lines traditionally found in choral music. Alongside the classic brass quintet lineup, the addition of flugelhorn and piccolo trumpet expands the ensemble’s tonal range, adding warmth, brilliance, and expressive nuance.
