Her name is Leonor. She is 20 years old. She speaks 8 languages, has completed military training across all three branches of Spain's armed forces, and when the time comes, she will become the first reigning Queen of Spain in more than 150 years.

Princess Leonor of Asturias is heir to the Spanish throne — and she is not waiting for the crown to make something of herself. At 18, she began a mandatory three-year military rotation through the Spanish Army, Navy, and Air Force. She completed infantry training. She is now a naval officer in training. She will serve in aviation before she steps into any ceremonial role.

In an era when royal families across Europe have become famous for entitlement and scandal, Spain's future queen is earning her place the hard way — quietly, on bases, in uniform, alongside people who will never wear a crown.

That is what leadership in preparation looks like.
